Internet Speeds....World Community Grid needs to move to South Korea

http://tech.yahoo.com/news/afp/20090825/tc_af...itinternet_20090825230334

Seems that South Korea is leading the race. Wish I could find a list to see where all the countries rank.

Haha... looks like the best way for us to benefit is for us all to move to South Korea? biggrin

I would also be concerned if I discovered that WCG was in fact on the end of a Broadband connection shock

Re: Internet Speeds....World Community Grid needs to move to South Korea

I tried to download the full report:

http://files.cwa-union.org/speedmatters/state..._Internet_Speeds_2009.pdf

Ironically, it's the slowest download speed I've seen in a long time. Perhaps that's a line that Alanis Morrisette should have chosen? "It's like downloading a report on internet download speeds at 7.8kbps" Hmm! Doesn't really scan, and as Ed Byrne was so fond of pointing out, it would have been the only ironic point in the song.

Fortunately, bandwidth is not a major factor for us. It may be for the server farm, but I am sure that a couple of balanced T3 lines (or better) is more than adequate.
