While I can't say anything good about his deeds while living. I'm sorry for his passing and the fact he'll not see the pearly gates(I'm sure he's quite warm now).

While I can't say anything good about his deeds while living. I'm sorry for his passing and the fact he'll not see the pearly gates(I'm sure he's quite warm now). Nothing good? That's a pretty big misstatement I think. Yes, Senator Kennedy did do things that were wrong. There is no question about that. He also did contribute to some amazingly good things as well: 1) COBRA - without COBRA many in the US would have lost heath insurance when they lost their job. I'm fairly certain this saved my life after I was laid off from work. 2) Title IX - Women in sports. A good thing. My daughter certainly enjoys them. 3)Mental health benefits 4) Immigration reform 5) Cancer research 6) Civil Rights work ( Including work against the poll tax) ... The list goes on and on. I'm sure many of us have had to face similar demons as Senator Kennedy: substance abuse (Alcohol), infidelity, etc. and I'm not saying the man was a saint ( are any of us?) but to say that he had done nothing positive in his life is just wrong. ![]() |

but to say that he had done nothing positive in his life is just wrong. That's not what I said. While I can't say anything good about his deeds while living. I wasn't trying to be mean. I just don't have anything good to say about the man. I am truly sorry for his soul tho. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by PecosRiverM at Aug 28, 2009 12:23:20 AM] |

And who are you to judge? Get off your ivory pedestal. What pedestal(I'm sitting in a wooden chair)? I'm not judging the man, God will do that. His actions and the way he lived tell me all I need to know. Geez Belive what you will. I will belive what I do. I'm still sorry for the man. Guess I'm sorry for you also. ![]() |

I am truly sorry for his soul tho. And who are you to judge? Get off your ivory pedestal. Personally, I was happy when he was out of the senate. I never wished for him to be dead, I just wished for him to shut up. Brain cancer sure did that! Now that he's no longer with us, he won't be pulling out any trash on anyone to get them to support him. This man wasn't so much respected as he was feared. The guy was an embarrassment to the political process and without the massive amounts of dirt he had on everyone, wouldn't have accomplished what he did. I won't miss him and am glad he is gone. He got what he deserved.

Also considering the forum were on, one that researches cancer, and alot of people on here find it in their motivation to do WCG to help their loved ones....your comment about Brain cancer shutting him up, real tasteful |

Generally there is a rule about it being in distaste to speak ill of the dead. So it is distasteful to call Hitler a nasty mass murderer because he is now dead! Do me a favour, dying NEVER made anyone any better than they were when they were alive! |

Do me a favour, dying NEVER made anyone any better than they were when they were alive! Yeah - You don't often hear people say about Hiltler that maybe he wasn't that bad, perhaps misunderstood. Vegetarians get that a lot though Is nobody going to call "Godwin's Law" on this one? Godwin's Law Whatever your opinion Kennedy was a great American ...who supported IRA terrorists killing British soldiers!!!!! All of a sudden, funding terrorism stopped being cool. Let's just be thankful that NI didn't get invaded to free the persecuted Irish from the British Tyranny - lucky there's no oil there I suppose. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by gordoma at Aug 28, 2009 1:53:11 PM] |

On Kennedy detractors, I see that you are very good at throwing "first stone". Is this according to your Chriastian religion? I think you just broke some of its rules ... like:
----------------------------------------1. "Let He Who Is Without Sin Cast the First Stone" 2. "Do not judge or you too will be judged?" 3. "How wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thane eye; and, behold, a beam is in thane own eye?" But I think to you (PecosRiverM) it applies this rule: 4. "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you." For you, my friend, are in no right to speak of Christian judgment or hell or heaven for you are not a Christian, based on how you act and what are you saying. And judging others with Christian rule when you yourself you’re not a Christian will attract God's fury for sure. Also... only the Devil really can't say anything good about a men. Is this your father that teached you those words? |
