It's a lot of fun. I've played for over four years straight and off & on for two years prior to that. They don't charge a monthly subscription, the graphics are awesome and they have a great development team that actually plays the game. I see them out playing from time to time. It's neat to see! Not GW related, but MMO related. Back when I had time for games (read, "pre-marriage and child"), I played a couple MMOs. There was one we played which didn't allow free text chat between characters unless you had shared a special code first. (The idea being you would share the code outside of the game so that you would only chat with people you really knew and would prevent inappropriate online behavior. All things I'm in favor of, except when you try to coordinate raids, or find somebody who is a skilled and kind player. Then it becomes frustrating. So some friends devised a way to pass codes in game using the game's built-in chat phrases.) There was one character who ran around with a few of us friends and did raids or whatever- seemed friendly enough. Then late one night, he and I had done a couple raids and I passed him a code so we could chat. His first response was, "That was really clever. We'll have to talk about that in our next meeting." Then my character went from full health to 0 health. After what was probably just a few seconds, but felt like a lot longer as the realization of demonstrating an exploit against the game's intent to a developer and visions of my account being banned popped into my head, he said, "Don't worry." and my character went back to full health. So yes, it can definitely be fun to run around with Devs. |

Col323, I now know the meaning behind your name..
I feel rather silly for not knowing that for 2 years. |

I'm normally not much of a badge hunter. I have my project preferences and just sort of let it ride. But[!], the recent OET announcement of work ending combined with the potential soon end of SCC has me in my outdoor gear and hunting some wascally
I thought I could cruise along to the end of the year and pick up a 20 year badge for OET and a 10 year for SCC. But, with OET potentially ending in about 20 days, I still have about 6 months of runtime to go for that first goal. Then, I have another 2.5 years to gain for my SCC badge. I can get about 20 days/day for OET, or about 24days/day for SCC when adding in my android phone. I also have a couple downtimes where I'll only be at about half strength for a few days when my Azure account hits its max. It should be lots of fun to see if I can make either goal! Hope others can reach their goals before the WUs dry up! |

Hey Col323! I am currently racing for the OET 20 year badge. I am 2 years away and closing. I should get the badge by Saturday (10/20/18) if I don't run out of gas/WU's.
----------------------------------------I hope SCC will restock with work units; otherwise I will not be able to make the 50 year badge. Oh well! you can't win them all. ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by thepeacemaker7 at Oct 11, 2018 11:12:21 PM] |

Congrats on your 20 year badge for OET!
When OET work stopped on Monday, I had 19 years 349 days (plus a few days worth in Pending and In Progress). Had that really been the final call, I would have been oh so close. But, now that work is flowing again, I believe I have enough queued to get my milestone this week. Keep crunching, all! |

Thanks Col323,
----------------------------------------I finished with OET yesterday, and now I am racing with Snurk and Friends in the THOR Challenge (Round 3). I will keep crunching on SCC work units, but I don't know if I will reach the next badge or not. [Edit 2 times, last edit by thepeacemaker7 at Oct 23, 2018 10:55:08 PM] |

Now that the cooler weather has returned, I've restarted crunching. In the summertime, I have to pay for the electricity twice: Once to compute, and then again to remove the heat with air conditioning.

Speaking of milestones, which I think we were somewhere on this page, (thanks High School Honors English for my fluid transitions and writing style!), I received my WCG Update mail and noticed I've been crunching on WCG for 10 years. Wow, time flies! It's been a pleasure to crunch along with you for over a decade now!
