Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 36 smilesmile

How long will those Win 7s you guys are running, run. IOW when does your license expire?

Have any of you tried Remote Desktop Connect between it and Vista Ultimate?

If I remember correctly, it starts shutting down every two hours starting March, 2010 and ceases to work June, 2010. The release date for the product is Oct 22, 2009.

I just ran WinVer and mine says it expires 1 Mar 10 at 4:59 pm. If I haven't installed the released version by then, it would be interesting to see if it shut down right at that moment! LOL
I forgot who asked, but I've run remote desktop a few times, now. I know it works connecting to WinXP because that is my weather station and it's easier to connect to it than it is to walk into the other room to see what it is doing.
Same driver problems as Vista. I worked through most of those, so when I get in the mood I'll reconnect some old printers that I use.
I haven't tried the XBox extender, yet. I'll probably do that in a few days.
So far, I really like it! biggrin
I have noticed that the video card runs a lot hotter, though. Even without crunching, I have to keep the fan at 85% just to keep it cooled down to 60F. Crunching takes it up to 80F, so I have to jack the fan up to 100% to keep the card at about 77F.

Interesting. I noticed no change in GPU but the cores are running hotter on the C2D test machine. But it is hard to say since it has been so bloody hot since I brought up Win7. It was cooler today ... by 7 tens of a degree. biggrin 104.2 today. Forecast for 101 tomorrow. I set the crunch times in the machines I'm running on BOINC. I never used that feature before but it works. For a bit I will be "Night Cruncher".

Bloody Mary is up and running. Not crunching yet but she is HUNGRY. laughing biggrin laughing I didn't put it on Win7 so it is doing updates now.

From the Microsoft Site:
Watch the calendar. The RC [Release Candidate] will expire on June 1, 2010. Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. You'll also need to install the programs and data that you want to use. (Learn more about installing Windows.)

Once a MB tastes blood, it can never get enough of it. You might be in that thing all the time, now!

Thanks. I am considering converting one of mine just to get RDC. I am happy with Vista and broke at the same time.

I like Win7. But having said that I would not spend all the money I would need to convert the whole farm to it. I will convert my main machine and I ordered a pre-release copy from Amazon.

Bloody Mary returned its first pair of GPUGrid wu's and is near completion on two more. Looks like it will do 2 every 7 hours. Happy!! biggrin
The 3-card machine was not doing well. When I rebooted it, it came up using two cards. I booted several time and it finaly came up using 3. It was way, way too hot so I took out the middle card. Now it is behaving nicely. When my finger heals I may build another two-card machine but right now I am one card short (and one brick short of a load! laughing biggrin )

Good morning MOT. 101F for the next 5 days. sad
