I Like Windows 7! Please record this for posterity as the only other time I have said this was when Windows 3.11 was introduced. The install was quick and easy, it boots/runs noticably faster and is less cluttered. I did a clean install of the 64-bit version from Vista 32-bit. The basic functions are the same. The only problem I had was my virus company only supports it if I buy their 2010 product (2010??? Did I miss something? ![]() ***** HOT!! It reached 101F at noon and is still going up. ![]() @ Darth: Is that the Chief Female Officer of the household? ![]() ![]() ![]() Windows 7 rocks! Three days of running it now, and I'm impressed! 105.8 here today.. had to drop my son off at the airport this morning so he could spend some time with his mom, broke my garage door and fixed it again (I hate messing with garage doors), and spent the rest of the day in the pool. It can get as hot as it wants to cause the pool feels just fine! ![]()

Hmmm .... we're really going to have to get moving if we intend to hit the 1,000 post mark before the end of the month. Different subject - is anyone else caught up in the latest CEP mess? There is a large number of WU's ending with Error status after hours of crunching. To compound the problem, the Error WUs are resent and waste time on 5 or 6 other machines. This was responsible for my dramatic reduction in points yesterday.... worst total since Jan '08. ![]() ![]() ![]() - D I lost 224 CPU hours over there recently. ![]() Edit> 102F here today ![]() I expect that we'll see something in the CEP forum tomorrow from the admins. Scanning through the 2-3 threads on the problem, it does seem to be specific to certain batches of WUs. Since the problem seems to be that the WUs are writing a bigger output file that the admins allowed, they'll either have to jigger the file size limit or rework the WUs. I wouldn't be too surprised to see them pull those batches back and give folks credit for the errored ones. |

Statistics Total Run Time Points Results Okay, DEEEP breaths. It's the heat of the summer and a weekend no less. No need to panic yet. ![]() ![]() It's also all those goose eggs for CEP WUs. ![]() There are more problems than just the output file size and, as I pointed out in a post in the CEP forum, there are WUs in PV that should be in Error --- so it's a bit worse than it seems. And there's this little gem from one of my wingmen: Result Log <core_client_version>5.10.45</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> too many normally harmless exit(s) </message> ]]> For those of you that aren't following the threads in the CEP forum, you might want to think about aborting any CEP WUs that start with E000765, E000766 or E000767. Things had seemed to be back on track with CEP until now. Hopefully, they can get it fixed quickly. Last time the credited Error WUs. If they do that again, it'll take some of the sting of seeing processing power go down the virtual drain. - D |
