There seems to be a huge discrepancy between different PCs. I am crunching one at the moment that looks like it is going to take about 24 hours. My wingman has already reported with 9.66 hours of CPU time. I'm already at over 10 hours with 38% completion.  Is this to do with the way that different PCs handle all the page faults, or is it some quirk with the WUs? In my case it was purely that the WU's I got from the 479 batch were long ones. My wingmen have taken longer on each of the ones that validated so far. My guess in your case would be it's partly down to your hardware, partly operating system, and partly what other stuff is running at the same time on the PC. I suspect though that certain combinations of hardware & O/S give better results on some projects over others. Mine seems to like the cancer WU's best, which is great as I have a preference for those projects anyways.  |
