I am surprised that nobody has commented that there are no CEP WU being sent out. My last one was received over 24 hours ago. Yeah, I have a little buffer, but I'm on my last two on this machine. (Which isn't saying much considering they take 30 hours each ) |

given the high number of Pending Validation reports, I've got a dozen too specifically for this project Sek, If you're waiting on any of the following 4 WU's, they're coming - slowly, but surely (I'm manually restricting them to just 1 out of the 2 cores I've got available); E000464_023B_00030n00z_1-- (should be finished by the morning) E000465_712B_00040d010_1-- E000465_716B_00040d015_1-- E000465_717B_00040e000_0-- I do have 4 other CEP WU's - although the wingman hasn't returned them yet, so they're not as urgent as the 4 already waiting upon my machine. These 4 are; E000462_411B_000229001_0-- E000462_688B_00022g00s_0-- E000463_314B_000306005_1-- E000465_713B_00040d011_1-- (All the above, are due to be returned on or before the 7th of April). As to having WU's in PV, I've currently got 4 (and thus, I know as to how frustrating it can be at times... );E000444_966B_000d0h002_0-- (the other WU, due for return on 01/04/09 10:49:33) E000458_233B_00002200d_0-- (the other WU, due for return on 05/04/09 22:54:04) E000459_324B_000108007_0-- (the other WU, due for return on 06/04/09 02:26:09) E000469_325B_00052h00n_1-- (the other WU, due for return on 09/04/09 00:20:59) ![]() |

Well as of right now, I have just finished my last two CEP which both validated and 15 remain in PV land. About a third will be reassigned around 4/1 so some folks have their caches very full or have left the project.

Does anyone find it ironic that as of the date of this posting the WCG home page banner reads "Clean Energy Needs You" yet there is currently a sever
paucity of WU's available to crunch? I understand WCG is always trying to recruit new members, but how would a new WCG member feel if they signed up their computer(s) to work on this worthwhile project and find no or very limited amount of WU's available? |

In the rare event that no work at all is available for a particular project, most members manage to be patient. We have plenty of other projects after all.
But when there is simply very limited work, it is assigned first to those who have chosen the project exclusively. Anyone expecting instant gratification from World Community Grid is really doomed to unhappiness, anyway. Humanitarianism requires the long view, patience, perseverance and hope. The overwhelming attitude of members (in my experience) is a positive one. |

But when there is simply very limited work, it is assigned first to those who have chosen the project exclusively. Yet the 6 computers that were exclusively assigned to CEP went for 48 hours with no new WU, and now that they are assigned to both CEP and HFCC they have spent another 2 days with no CEP WU. Yet you are saying that some people are still getting some WU. |

That's not what I said, astrolab. I said nothing about current work availability.

This is the last one in the queue and savoring it, for I've not had a word one way or the other...
----------------------------------------E000472_ 853B_ 000j0h00v_ 1-- 95711 In Progress 3/28/09 16:32:02 4/9/09 16:32:02 0.00 0.0 / 0.0 Now, I'm going to hit some shinbones and proposing a quota for the amount of CEP jobs any one device can have "in progress", if at all technically feasible. I have many in PV which suggests that some have been hoovering (repeat) which is not helping the project batch completion. Watching the RS pages and the very short time for Validated results to be moved off to the assimilator suggests that the scientist are eager to get their hands on the work for appraisal.

Sek, what I can't understand is that, if we're limited to 10 days' max work within BOINC, how can work which is sent out on the 20/3/09 @ 10:49:19, have a 'return by date' of 01/04/09 10:49:33 - as, by my calculations, that's over 10 days...

The CEP and RICE deadlines are 12 days (see FAQ's). Projects can set any deadline. Done a few that have 30 days or more deadline, it's just that BOINC prevents a client to "quota-less" hord work. Aside that, if you fill up with 10 days work and a few take longer than expected, it will inflate the computed time o remaining work in buffer and cause EDF/panic state (FIFO). That freezes work fetch as far as I know for the project in panic state.
