We had the initial diagnosis but got the dreaded news yesterday of Duchenne MD for my son Eric, with a deletion at exon 17. We had at least hoped for Becker, but not so.
We cannot afford to give in to this devastating news and during the interim period of time I have been getting people signed up to WCG. Many have signed up already and there will be more coming. Of these so far 12 have signed up to the team that I created -- "He's My Son" -- with a number of us with 3 or more registered devices ready to go. I have also found it quite interesting but not totally surprising that our neurologist who is actively engaged with MDA organization was not aware of WCG and the HCMD project. My sister also found that the local MDA office in my home town also had no idea. Thus, not only am I recruiting friends/family and their friends/families, I will also continue recruiting within IBM, city of Austin (via radio station), my own neurologist and the patients that he has to notify of MD news, but also the MDA organization itself to be aware of the HCMD grid project. They may not join "He's My Son" but I know they will be out there... |

Hello everybody, dear Doug, I am coordinating Decrypthon, a French grid-computing initiative fighting MD, which is supporting the HCMD project that will run on WCG. We highly appreciate your commitment to this cause. We are working real hard to make this a great success and make Decrypthon & WCG worth your involvement. Please consider your suggestion is being taken into consideration as we are currently investigating ways to get into a coordination with the american MDA among others. For further information please visit our website, which will soon be completely redesigned : http://www.decrypthon.org/anglais/Regards, Jacques |

Very good news Alessandra. We are thousands and thousands waiting to crunch for your project to make it a success and it will be a success.
----------------------------------------Jacques, what said Doug is exactly what we said some conf call ago. There is not enough information about research projects in general, including WCG projects. Scientists does a very good job but they don't communicate enough about their reseach. But may be it is not their job to communicate and somebody aware of each project should do it for them while they are searching. When i am cleaning my car, i'm not cooking. When a scientist communicate, he is not searching. Too much communication kill the communication but no communication, nobody know. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by boulmontjj at Mar 7, 2009 11:57:32 PM] |

Great news, can't wait to start. I assume HCMD will be available on all platforms this time? Cheers, Rog.

Interesting, also with new Beta's?? ![]() Obviously! Probably starting soon... Fine tune your beta crunchers! Jean. ![]() Could you give us a clearer understanding about your interpretation of "soon"...? Please excuse my impatience, but I really can't wait, to crunch another 8 hours, 37 minutes and 7 seconds of ß-work, to finally get by silver ß-badge! And, to be honest, I am still convinced, that with the last Betas there were some irregularities with the granting of credits and cpu-time. I have followed all crunched wu's very accurately, and there were some, which were no grant was supplied... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Apr 2, 2009 6:37:44 PM] |
