@ don den: Did you As a Survivor and part time Base Camper, we cordially invite you to our camp ground and should like to see you put on your Wishbone hat with a Red Rose and a White Rose in the band ![]() We wouldn't mind if you brought that heavy duty grub machine dating from the War of the Roses either. About time to set off.
They are very good at breakfast here at Travel Inn, Poole. @ Edwardian: Think I'll look up Waterloo on my sat-nav and swing by Rein in your rhinos, here I come I have deviced a trick: Making Rosie wide and broad, straddling most lanes in the roundabouts This shall probably earn me the fourth and fifth finger .... See you later. |

Will do, Ted, Sir!
tsk, tsk, running around and losing his Lion, tsk .... Arrived in Dover having made good time. Was mighty tempted by a sign pointing to a memorial for the Battle of England just outside Dover. Picked for scrutinising in security. It's mighty hazy and we do have some waves, but my breed doesn't mind. Now: I Am Sailing |

Evening all
Yes there was that time that the Battle of Britain was a physical concept. Now the international bankers can make or break us with the ease of my making this comment to you. There was a time when I made that ferry journey twice a year but now I survive on the memories and no longer have the burden of a car to worry about. |

What was at the end of your ferry journeys, blanco ivan?
Headed for Waterloo, but as I lost an hour crossing back to Europe, I chose to check in at a hotel in the outskirts of Brugge. Tomorrow I'll go looking for the lion. I noticed, we greet the Brits with a series of roundabouts - we're no better, really And we do not have road signs reminding of which side of the road to drive in as you do. Not good at all. As I leisurely rode along in the right side of the road, some things trafficky came to mind: You had the most smashing signs with a hologram effect in one region - forgot where. Whauw! You warn about something to look out for in 380 yards. Not 500 yards, not 400, but 380 straight. You warn your regulars about "New road layout" - this irregular wondered how it was before it was new. You warn your very habitual regulars about "New road surface". I'm sure a couple of them will say: "New! Hah! I liked the old one much better. Could I have that back, please?" You warn about "Weak bridge" - and I ask myself how weak? Will it carry Rosie and me? Well, I miss you and your British ways more than I would have thought I would when navigating those roundabouts. It was a great adventure for Rosie and me - well, a fairy tale, actually. We did it, you Brits, Rosie and me ![]() Thank you. |
