Today is the only Friday the 13th in 2011, so if you make it through the day, you're home free. but you might like to bear the following in mind
----------------------------------------![]() Tridecaphobia crudely the fear of the number 13 more often however the fear of Friday The Thirteenth. Or alternatively Fear of Friday the 13th is friggatriskaidekaphobia, after the Norse goddess, Frigga, the goddess of love and fertility, at least until the Christians took charge in Scandinavia, and Frigga was tagged as a witch. even worse is the Greek paraskevidekatriaphobia !!! I prefer the easier to spell and remember Tridecaphobia . Those who are Tridecaphobic often remain indoors keep to their beds (or should that be Thier Ted?) Then there is the story of one such individual to whom staying in bed proved fatal when his chimbley fell through the roof and landed on his bed killing him instantly ![]() His Wife who ignored his fears and thought him a complete plonker was completely unharmed watching daytime TV downstairs. She was a little upset of course as the Falling Chimbly bought down the TV Ariel and she lost the picture . But cheered up when she collected the Insurance ![]() There are Lots Of Things to be worried about in this world I think Friday the 13th is a long way down the list. The Black cats union is up in arms cause cats have been kept in. for fear of them crossing someone's path . The Councils have pathways mostly rendered safe by tarmacking pavements thereby removing the cracks between paving slabs that are unlucky to tread on. We have all become twitchers keeping eyes peeled for pairs of Magpies (one for sorrow TWO for Joy) Some accident's have happened when pedestrians stepped into path of passing cars when they tried to avoid walking under ladders.on the plus side scribbles returned on this day So I hope you all have remained safe today But think on all you fellers while out enjoying a country walk in the woods & the call of nature beckons BEWARE Worms- If you urinate on a worm, your privates will become swollen that urban myth comes from Japan so think we are safe in UK. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 7 times, last edit by densnaps at May 14, 2011 5:59:41 AM] |

Evening all
Have put my order in right away Den. It's clouded over a bit now but otherwise just another warm day with most grass patches looking very yellow. After my usual Friday supermarket trip, and having looked at the chits of the last couple of visits, I reckon this aspect of the cost of living has gone up just over 5%. Thankfully, this is not critical for me but it does make me think about those closer to the bread line and, perhaps, now unemployed. |

![]() Survived the night, fortunately we don't have a chimney and I find it hard enough p'ing in a toilet let alone on some unfortunate worm! ![]() ![]() A bright sunny Saturday here but still on the chilly side. Daughter no2 and grandkids about to descend on me as they have heard grandads baked some cakes. It won't be long before the others get to know and converge on me too!. ![]() Stay safe, have a good weekend................ Old Sage ![]() |
