Re: Re:

Evening all

I was just interested in the television reception issue because my current analogue signal gives me no reason to complain and I tend to think I shall not see any noticeable improvement when it's converted to a digital next year.
The radio has a separate issue as the BBC decided on half the signal strength used on the continent although I cannot now remember their specific reasoning for this but it was something to do with total capacity for the present. As I said, however, it sounds OK to me even though no better than my 35 year old Panasonic stereo portable. The tape player part is redundant as both audio and VHS tapes are now part of history although machines are still around as the Charity shops are still full of those donated.

Anyway, the sun is still shining down here but it's not as hot as yesterday and forecast to get cooler and damper over the next few days. I suppose my grass will recover.

Oh, You were expecting IMPROVEMENT ? & Theres me thinking That you wanted to impress the neighbours with flat screen techno.
Its extremely likely that you will experience some picture drop out in bad weather as you know the digital system sends packets of info to your receiver interruption of this causes pixelation and complete loss of picture for a few seconds as happens with "Scatalitte".The cable of course doesn't suffer in this way .
As I said yesterday when the digital is established they do up the signal strength . From what I hear the radio will remain with FM predominating for the foreseeable future . Imagine the row if all those car radios, all the kitchen Roberts radios that were your special friend became destined for the dustbin .
The Younger folk will just pop out & buy the newest, latest gizmo laden I/J/ K pod or whatever the current model will be labelled Smaller than a box of matches requiring Docking stations
I had this Perdio portable long medium and 3 short wave bands Telescopic Ariel could pick up all sorts with this circa 1960 also had coax socket for external Ariel when listening to the shortwave it was around 4lb in weight with genuine leather strap 12"x10"x4" solid fibre glass case . Just found one that was sold on ebay a couple of weeks ago for £33.00 looked a newer model as the case was not quite as nice as mine but its advertised as still working condition

Bought a lump to my throat when I found this picture of my old mate

Re: Re:

Good morning everyone, It seems like a reasonable day so far, but it will get worse as I have to visit the dentist! Mind you at my advanced age I am grateful to still have teeth, both my fathers and my grandfathers were in jars by now!

he-he exactly
Good luck and don't let the dentist pull any out.
It's a funny experience being complimented for still having all one's own teeth, but age catches up with you.
Previously it was my starry eyes ....
biggrin
- now my teeth
blushing
sighhh
