Re: The green green grass

Evening all

Dry and reasonably warm here. Did a few odds and ends in the High Street.

I still find it amazing that we have two stored, the Pound shop and a competitor as the 99p shop. That's been the same price for years and read today that the Pound Shop guy is making such good profits he is moving on to open some slightly bigger units.

Today, I bought a biggish bag of mixed nails for 99p and the pound shop even has reading glasses at a quid. I bought a pair a few weeks ago just as a safety spare to put in my bag when I go to cricket and country walks. They're plastic lenses and I've used them a couple of times reading in the tube journey and they're perfectly viable.

I remember, as a youngster, surprised that my paternal Gran permanently wore glasses she'd bought for sixpence in Woollies. Then for a long time it was prescription only and now, again you can buy reading glasses in every Chemist and Supermarket.
