Evening all
Another mild day which doesn't make any better the news that another of our famous names has been swallowed up by one of the super sized internationals. I don't suppose the Quaker ethic will last long now. |

---------------------------------------- We have the Cadburys factory here in Dunedin. I don't think there will be anyone thrilled about Kraft taking them over. The staff here are nervous about it all as no doubt the first change made after takeover will be the layoffs. Cadburys was one of the largest employers here but now they have been quietly expanding their premises and quietly firing people. Chances are eventually it will be shut down and moved to somewhere, where there is cheap labour. My thoughts are with the staff here. Off to check my farms,... Evening all A tad cooler again today but dry so can't complain. I trust your larder is full again Merle just in case we get a small follow up next week. Well, it has been snowing all day today (here in lovely Surrey!)  ), but at least it hasn't settled! With regards to the larder, it no longer exists! I am in the midst of having a new kitchen so all I have at the moment is a bare shell of a kitchen, although they have left me the sink to use. Only half the kitchen is accessible at the moment as the other half is taken up with very large, and all shapes and sizes of cardboard boxes which I am lead to believe contain new kitchen cupboards, etc. etc. Every other room is full of everything that came out of the kitchen and the kitchen cupboards. Therefore, there is no room to walk anywhere, cos all the equipment is on the floor! I have decided just to "go with the flow" - but there again I don't have many options!! Whenever I need something I remember I possess, I have to search all over the floor of every other room. You think I am exaggerating don't you? WRONG!! The very large fridge/freezer (which is going by the way) is standing in it's glory in the middle of the lounge! I am remaining remarkably calm in the circumstances. But, tomorrow is the day - they will all be back to un-do all the cardboard boxes!! (and hopefully install some of them!) I am going out now - I thought it was a good idea   |
