Tell him that we all hope the old Ferguson was not hurt too bad.
---------------------------------------- On a more serious note, that is an excellent way to get killed; I knew a man that flipped his John Deere and did not live to tell the tale. Hopefully the titanium body parts will allow him to get satellite TV without having to pay the fees. Tell him we wish him no male nurses and a quick recovery. ![]() |

News from Orakk "I see me lad found the thread.. Managed to flip the old Ferguson, breaking me left leg & crushing the chest a tad whilst attempting to pull a much heavier forklift out of a bog. Cushioning the old tractors fall wasn't the brightest thing I've done but I do now have shiny titanium body parts fitted and them nurses do a great body wash. Thanks for all your thoughts folks, that was a close one." ![]() Hope he's doing well. Remind him to change the lubricants on his metallic endo-skeleton every 5000 miles, 7500 if he goes Mobil 1 synthetic. |

By the was DM, the Audi, since it's in my garage for a few years anyway, is going in for some dyno testing. 262 bhp on 109 octane race fuel! Also, the thing spits fire alarmingly frequently. This will be corrected. But right now, it does look pretty baller.

Must be something genetic since so many of us are guilty of this sort of thing! Oh, and whoever GOT the forklift in the bog in the first place clearly owes Rob a pint - anytime he wants one! ![]() |

Speaking of which, it would seem like we should expect a new post in Member News, probably early on tomorow, about what sounds to be some sort of server migration for WCG. That could be why we're seeing these new WUs with the much shorter deadlines. Short enough in fact to cause BOINC to pull them in ahead of work you already had in your queue. That probably increases the odds of a given WU ending up in the PV jail above the usual. The impact will be temporary I believe but not until after the start of the new year. We may well see some drop in our scores in the meantime. If this is really tied to the preparations for some sort of server migration, this may be where the back end database(s) get upgraded to newer code levels and the time it takes to run the stats gets shorter. This would also set the stage for the points to credits conversion at some point after this too. Good things overall - if I am recalling past threads correctly. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=22984 Thanks Dave. Everyone should have a look at the post. Looks like there will be some amount of downtime/outage. Plan now so you can make sure you have enough work downloaeded to your machines that you can keep crunching through the outage. Noticed that in another thread over in Website Support, Kevin said that two days of work in your queue should be plenty for any outage that they may have during the server farm migration. |

Happy almost New Years Eve!
Well. Congratulations MOT on 80 million. ..my laptop is shutting down for crunching since the goal has been hit. In the interest of preserving its lifespan. I have my Foxconn Black Ops X48 motherboard coming on Friday. So.. my Q6600 can finally be overclocked. I'm hoping for 4.0 GHz since this chip is a rare one. Stock voltage is only 1.2375v. Hoping that a high clocked Quad will bring in more points. Working on gathering stuff for some dry ice extreme overclocking on spring break.. At an attempt for top 10 in the world. I would like a shot at first place though.. but my Quad/Mobo/RAM might die in the process. Anyone have any spare Socket 775 CPUs just lying around not being used? My GTX 260 is finally clocked to the max and crunching.. you should see the bill that came in today... 100% + increase since I got home from school..... School starts again next Tuesday. Well. That's my little "update" for the night. *runs off* |

Well, we are at 80,533,155 with one last day of crunching. Thanks Ady and Rob for hanging around! Glad to hear you're healing up Rob but there has to be an easier way to get a sponge bath from a cute young nurse!
---------------------------------------- Gerard, that i7 of yours has really kicked it up for you! Nice work! Dr. Mike, good to hear from you. Hang in there! It's a real tough job market out there now but there's no surplus of doctors and nurses by any means. You'll get something. What with the growing shortage of GPs too, there's plenty of rural areas and small towns that would eagerly welcome a doc in town. I'll post the daily, monthly and full year stats tomorrow. It's amazing how far we've come in the past year. I suspect I'll whip up some new paper first though. |
