Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Got a nice (?) little note from Comcast (my ISP) this morning (AUP = Acceptable Use Policy):
On October 1, 2008, we will post an updated AUP that will go into effect at that time.

In the updated AUP, we clarify that monthly data (or bandwidth) usage of more than 250 Gigabytes (GB) is the specific threshold that defines excessive use of our service. We have an excessive use policy because a fraction of one percent of our customers use such a disproportionate amount of bandwidth every month that they may degrade the online experience of other customers.

ComcaNt huh? Betcha they don't provide you any way of knowing where you are relative to the limit at any given time.

I bet you are right -- the only status report will be when they have determined that you have exceeded it. angry

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Good mornin' DM. Hopefully by this time tomorrow morning, my new quad will be returning its first WU's. One of my sons is coming by after work this evening to help get it unpacked and set up (and, oh yeah, to disconnect one bright blue light -- lol).

Cool dave ... If it was a blacklight I'd have kept it. laughing biggrin laughing You will like it. Yes, thought I'd cut Capt'n some slack.

I ordered the replacement machine yesterday ... it's a secret ... secret weapon!!! I figured I would spend the money now before my government takes it away to bail out Martha Stewart, Mary Kay and the little girl down the road who runs the lemonade stand. laughing biggrin laughing

Dataman, tell me your plan is to buy two cheap quads with beefy power supplies and Nvidia 9800gts, not one turbo quad (because after all, GPU processing is the way of the future!).

Ya know, it's nice to see someone with a social conscience making some money on Wall Street.

Hey, you keep up stuff like this and you might turn into one of us liberals. Or maybe a left-libertarian? Rawls anyone?

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 29 smilesmile

Installed the IBuyPower quad and, surprise of all surprises, the Vista activation indicates that the product key is already in use. Tried to reach IBuyPower and got the "Nobody available" message. Called TigerDirect and indicated that DM had hit same thing and that TigerDirect was able to get a key. The lady said it will be tomorrow, but product manager has been sent e-mail regarding my problem. I am running WCG Boinc on it while I wait, though.

Decided to leave lights on at least for now.
