Hey y'all, quick poll. The Humanist Chaplain at Harvard, Greg Epstein, has asked me about job placement after I graduate. Right now, it looks like my options for sites are as follows. I'm curious which locations you guys think are the best. The pay, of course, would vary significantly. But for a first job, I don't particularly care about the money.
Yale Princeton Columbia NYU U-Penn Stanford (not real interested in the West Coast, to be honest) Boston University MIT |

Columbia + NYU --could make mom and dad happy and move back home Seriously, how come, aside from the token, everything's in the Northeast? Is this for teaching positions? |

The only universities that can support a Humanist Chaplain (I'm doing chaplaincy for a long time, a PhD is in the pipeline in more like 10-15 years) are large, private, wealthy universities. These happen to mostly occur in the northeast. Also, I would prefer not to move off the east coast. Stanford is the only west coast school I would seriously entertain moving to. |
