Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 28 smilesmile

Well, what about the DC area? Duke in NC? Not really familiar with theology schools much. However, there's the Candler Theology School at Emory. It's a private university with a pretty hefty endowment (Woodruff gave it 105 million back in the 70s and has grown tremendously since) that's busting at the seams. I barely recognize the place these days. It's also the home of "God is Dead" back in the 60s that caused a pretty good national stir back then. Also, staying on the East coast, getting south of DC gets you a much cheaper cost of living.

Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 28 smilesmile

You know, I never thought of Duke. That would be a good idea. UVA and Chapel Hill are off limits since they're public and the funding situation is more complicated. I think Vanderbilt is too small. The major issue at these schools is making sure that there is a large enough atheist/humanist population for me to minister to. If the students aren't there, then there's no point having a chaplain for their "denomination."

Check out Emory. Atlanta's much larger and more cosmopolitan that Raleigh-Durham. Duke and Emory may be somewhat comparable. Emory has their hospital, the big children's hospital, CDC, big medical/dental/research complex, law, business, big graduate programs, large international presence and it's all there together. You want to look at all the options. May want to look into SMU in Dallas too.

My girlfriend is an SMU alum and has warned me against it. Too many vapid party girls and dumb, rich dbags. And Emory is a little too far south. I'm not a huge fan of the heat.

Hey all, my laptop went down for 24 hours with all work finished and no uploading of tasks. It keeps wanting to connect to some other wireless network and not to the one in our apartment. Problem has been fixed. Points should improve.

Jonathan, Raleigh and Atlanta aren't all that different on weather.* Check the normals/averages/extremes on the NWS site. Never hurts to consider all your options, if only to confirm what you first thought. Sometimes, you get surprised.

Edit: Well, Raleigh has had to contend with more hurricanes coming close than Atlanta.
