It's version 6.06 btw. The Single Redundancy aka quorum 2 was 6.05!

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

I don't think I'm going to get any FAAH jobs for a while. It think that many people have FAAH as a preferred project.

My workload is pretty much a 3 way split between HCC1, HPF2 and RICE, with a couple of DDDT resends.

It looks like the DDDT "Zero Redundancy" is working OK, but the project has been throttled back a bit.

Here are the questions:-
How fast is FAAH going to ramped up?
Can the scientists cope with 80 to 90 percent more results?
Can we expect FAAH to resume it's 20-25% share?

Edit - Just got my first FAAH 6.06 whilst writing this! biggrin
Edit - It's an "error" resend biggrin

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

My quad under XP has returned my first one half an hour ago.
It has got a 15 % bonus of granted vs claimed. Nice, but maybe I only started with an exception as there are in DDDT from time to time. We'll see...

Later tonight I shall try it under Linux to see if it is still the system you should not run if what you are interested with is credits... devilish

Cheers. Jean.

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

I don't think I'm going to get any FAAH jobs for a while. It think that many people have FAAH as a preferred project.

Today I have set my quad as FAAH-only to be able to see how it goes, but I have an extra work setting of 0.1 day only and after a few days I will probably re-activate DDDT under XP and HCC under Linux as before.

You may be guessing right but if you happen to receive emergency jobs usually you are eligible for receiving new FAAH during the first days and once the queues of all FAAH-only clients will have been filled in you should receive some FAAH too.
If you never receive emergency jobs or if your average turnaround time is more than 21 hours you might have to wait until the techs are confident that everything is fine before seeing the first ones.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

JmBoullier,

My extra work buffer is set to 0.0, I get quite a few "Emergency Jobs", right now 9 of my 33 "in progress" jobs are "Emergency Jobs".

I like being "reliable" biggrin

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

I am glad to see that you have received your first one. And since you are a reliable client at least most of them should really be in zero-redundancy mode from the beginning. Currently I have three others running and one ready to start. The first one I have returned was a short one, 3.45 hours, while those which are still running will be about twice longer as far as I can see. When the three running will be complete I will start the Linux experiment.

Regarding your other questions I am not the right person to answer them, but at least I can tell you that I have not "heard" anything which would let me think that going back to past volumes could be a problem.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

Here are the questions:-
How fast is FAAH going to ramped up?

FA@H will be getting ramped up over time. We do not want to open it at 20% of the grid just in case there is some sort of an issue.

Can the scientists cope with 80 to 90 percent more results?

The folks at SCRIPPS have a very good team and I don't see an issue with them going through the extra results, but only time will tell on that. Even if we only run FA@H at 12% of the grid, then it is estimated they'll be getting back more results than before.

Can we expect FAAH to resume it's 20-25% share?

I believe we are going to go for the 10-12% of the grid at first then grow hopefully back up to the 20-25% of the grid.

Thank you to everyone for all the comments and questions.

smile Re: FA@H ZERO Redundancy Change

Since I'm not all that savvy with all the techno-jargon on here....

I think this means that we're getting new work units for FAAH, some might get some, others might not, depending on how fast their machines can run it. (Faster machines get WUs, slower ones like mine get none).
The WUs might be re-runs of errors, verifications, etc. The new BOINC thingy might have some bugs.

Can I assume I've assumed correctly, or have I presumed wrong?
(Say that 10 times fast, lol)

I got a WU, my machine says it'll take about 30 hours to run. That's OK.
One finished a few nights ago, I was hoping it would get another, but if not, I was willing to select Rice again. Got another FAAH, and so my little laptop is happily chugging along with it.
