Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

(Thinking ...) The last of the biggies in my Pending Validation list have due date 18 Aug, but I/we are now getting new little ones due 19 Aug. There will be WUs that need to be re-sent from both of these groups and it will take longer for the re-sent big WUs to come back, but the techs will need to stop sending new WUs soon if they want the work from both groups to run out at the same time.
Even though the new WUs coming out are shorter than average, some slow or part-time machines may take a big part of their 11-day allowance to return them.
I expect it's all being monitored closely, so we need not worry.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Our man (knreed) has a plan, to which we're not privy. Following the DDDT depletion routine, it took about 6 days to convert, so if kicked off tomorrow we could be on ZR by next Wednesday.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the replies. When I asked the question I had 10 or 12 FAAH "In progress", now I'm down to 4.

I guess the plug has been pulled.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

We will not be starting the 'squeeze' on FightAIDS@Home until at least August 18th or 19th. That is when the last of the long workunits should finish up. It is taking this long becuase we extended the deadline for the workunits to be almost 3 weeks long.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

OK People,

Just finished my latest Exp. 24 rerun, and I also just got an Exp. 21 WU.

I'm thinking (although it hurts) that we should be getting to Zero(0) Redundancy on FAAH by the end of August.

LOL Pete

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Update:

Last Quorum 2 work has gone out. Only "Repair" work is currently send out to make up for jobs that went Error (to include user aborted work), No Reply (overdue), or Inconclusive.

No 3rd copy as yet has been pushed out to speed up quorum completion, which I've confirmed by checking the last 8 I've got in queue. This is anticipated to happen sometime on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Confirmed, no fa@h job is currently available...!!!

I've swiched my grid to only accept fa@h jobs for a time (to do my part to speed up this process), and now I'm getting wu's from other projects.

@all Techs:
Is it a big deal, to give an overview (maybee twice a day; one in the morning and one in the evening) about the progress of the drain-out process? Would be really cool and informative!!!

Antoher question: Are the last amount of jobs sent out to "any" client, or have the reliable been prefered? The last deadline I have received is Sept. 5th... If I add another 48 hrs. for repair-jobs, I come to Sept. 7th... Quite a long time... How is the status here?

90% of my fa@h WU's will be completed within the next 18 hrs., and I'm really waiting for the new "software", which will run these cute packages with single redundancy... smile

Cheers
Totto

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

FWIW, I've got about 35 Faah WU's most of which were received today and returned today with the status of "Pending Validation" with due dates from 8/30 - 9/5.

So now the waiting game begins as we wait for all the WU's needing to be returned are processed and returned.

Since the purpose of the "rounds of overscheduling" is to expedite the process of the last dual-redundancy jobs in order to keep the transition time as short as possible you may expect these "3rd jobs" to have the same short deadlines as repair jobs and thus to be sent only to "reliable/fast returner" devices.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

All of the additional copies of work will be sent to 'reliable' hosts. As noted above, the purpose of the extra copies is to get these workunits done as quick as possible so that we can get the zero redundancy work flowing out to all users.

There are currently 65,156 workunits in progress for FightAIDS@Home. Yesterday there were 24,577 workunits that finished for FightAIDS@Home.
