Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

knreed, thanx for the informations...

This means, theoretical the zero redundancy could be sent out in approx. 60 hrs... biggrin I missed the details on this process for DDDT, are the 3rd Jobs sent out earlier for the drain-out (during the regular computing time), so the switch can be done right on Sept. 5th, or will they be sent for the last one's on Sept. 5th with a short deadline (about Sept. 8th)?

I hope my english is clear enough, that all understand, what I mean... blushing

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Observe the dark blue line, this per the Monday morning, post weekend session, which had about 27,800 results validated.

Watch out as Kevin could be talking unique numbers and not quorum 2, as yesterday 49,628 validated per the statistics page and mentions 24,577

No, he'll start pushing them on Tuesday, speak tomorrow per his announcement!

[Added: Now on the last 2, 94 and 82% respectively, any other work trickling into my client buffers since yesterday has been none-faah jobs]

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Actually our friend nelsoc will be doing the draining of FightAIDS@Home this time.

There are currently 45,698 workunits still in progress for FightAIDS@Home. 24,725 were completed yesterday.

The first volley of additional copies will be sent out tomorrow.

(note that if you look at the difference between the number of workunits in progress vs the number completed they aren't quite the same. That is becuase the number of workunits in progress is a current number while the number of workunits completed yesterday was a count of those completed during the calendar day August 25)

Knreed,

If you need to point any old FAAH WU's somewhere you can point them at me if you like...

Although, I must admit, pointing them at nelsec seems to escape me.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

nelsec nelsoc is the website developer, a colleague of Kevin. If you get 'nelsoc-ced', a term almost as old as WCG, it means that you had a post edited for forum rule violation.

Theoretically, if there are 'Reliable' clients that also meet the 21 hour 'Rush criterium, that have FA@H as preferred project, they'll be getting first serve. It's all about the contacting of the server by the client at the right point in time. Very short contact time and a job of 4-5 hours means your quad is not likely to talk often to the server.... 24-28 times a day. Pushing the update button wont help, because your client will simply calculate that at 0.001 days it has no reason to fetch work but minutes before finishing a job. Setting FA@H only without backup project translates to your client sitting around idle and calling, and when it does it get's a message to back off, with ever increasing intervals, much longer than the 0.001days. Now that does not help does it? So my advise is: Keep FA@H, use the "give me work of...." and let it run it's natural cause. Taking the DDDT 6 day experience, the switch is not likely to happen before Sat/Sun, Friday very very optimistic.

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

Sekerob,

Yes your points are equally as valid as the ones I've posted for my reasons.

Having or otherwise permitting clients to have a queue depth of 10 days or more causes exactly the same kinds of problems too.

Now, this being said, having a class of clients that are on credit / cpu second basis and categorizing WU's with very high work priority into these kinds of work classes has the WU's returned fairly quickly.

Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

can someone explain the credit assignments of this WU to me?

I certainly don't seem to understand how this was derived.

TIA

Re: FA@H Zero Redundancy Change

What fun, I got a fa@h from the repair stag and did not even ask for it:

faah4303_ NSC79594_ xmd19880_ 00_ 1-- In Progress 08/26/2008 21:17:46 08/29/2008 21:17:45 0.0 0.0 / 0.0

The client just queued it behind and sits there "Ready to start. It computed that with the 21hour queue the job will be done by tomorrow which is before panic state and Earliest Deadline First is considered.

relax, I can revive your horse, even if you abused it to death :D
