OK, I've suspended it.

Thanks

Edit - It hadn't started!

Excellent, one of the very pleasing parts of what WCG pushed to get working in BOINC to optimize efficiency and incorporated by the Berkeley Developers. It does though require for the client to talk to the server! The job I reported with the odd backup on 2 day deadline and the 3rd copy having three was canceled too as anticipated as the 2 day deadliner was quicker. Saw no entry in the BOINC message log, but for that I keep BOINCView and sure enough right after these messages from a scheduled (automatic) contact, an "aborted by project" showed in the BV Completed work tab (screenshot).

8/28/2008 12:22:59 AM|WCG|Message from server: No work can be sent for the applications you have selected
8/28/2008 12:22:59 AM|WCG|Message from server: No work is available for FightAIDS@Home
8/28/2008 12:22:59 AM|WCG|Message from server: You have selected to receive work from other applications if no work is available for the applications you selected
8/28/2008 12:22:59 AM|WCG|Message from server: Sending work from other applications

Confidence in system reiterated.... just let BOINC do the job!

BIG PS:

For those concerned over the device reliability status. The aborted jobs, though showing in the Result Status page as "Error" are not counted towards the rating!

Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

Sekerob,

Sorry I'm going off topic. But....

Can you tell me how to get these messages?
Do I have to change options in the Core Client Config file? Which?
Can I use the BoincView tool to do this?

BTW - I'm using BoincView 1.5 beta 8.

Thanks
Pete.

Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

[offtopic]In BOINC or in BV? 1.5.0.8b. You can add different frames and also in the Options > Prefences > Log there is a box "Show more detail" and "Log Progress". I've gone back to 1.4.2 because under 1.5 and BOINC 6 i keep loosing the "Completed" info.

Notably, it's nice that the developers have recently done some work to keep BOINCview users happy when running the BOINC 6. It's to me THE multi-client, single view tool

1.5 has a window to set log flags on and off via a GUI, but because it hasnot been updated since 16 months (developer disappeared), some functions have gone broken with BOINC 6

You're welcome to start a specific BOINCview thread in Chat Room or join the BOINCview forum for Q&A.... there are some code informed people around there like Pepo[/offtopic]

Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

Number of FightAIDS@Home workunits still in progress: 14,715
Number of FightAIDS@Home workunits completed yesterday: 11,146

We will generate another set of extra copies in about 24 hours.

Re: FA@H Single Redundancy Change

Sekerob,

I'm down to 1 FAAH "Pending Validation", all the resent jobs (10) are done.

Offtopic - Thanks for the BoincView info, I could have found those check boxes if I'd looked in the right place.

Getting older and lazier! Thanks again.

Pete

PS. BoincView should not be allowed to die!

Hmmm, seems that the switch is coming very soon... biggrin

More than 52k results returned yesterday for FA@H, so that should decrease the number of workunits, which are still in progress, enormously.

Can't wait to get the actual numbers by Kevin, but I guess, there shouldn't be much more than 1k of work units, which need to be validated...

So, the big question is: When will Kevin push the button...??? smile
