cool New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

cool Hi all crunchers, I'm feel lucky today ! Just got Beta WU's to run.

I guess that this Beta's belongs to a new project mentioned in Nelsonc comments posted in this thread:

I just put in High Priority level to run in my computer and I will keep you informed about the results. Best Regards. Giba. coffee

Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

I'd have to resort to drastic measures if i told you what it could be. I think if they have a name like:

BETA_1tbaA--200804161301385_2
BETA_d1gut-A--200804161301351_9
BETA_1eihA--200804161301387_1eihA
BETA_d1dtj-A--200804161301374_d1dtj

they're not the same as that what's discussed in that Linux HCC thread.

I don't have a clue what project the BETA's are for but I have 39 of them running on two of my quads.

Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

Me too - I have 59 of them downloaded on my machines cool

Will give updates as they progress.

Edit: I notice that all mine have no completion times as per nelsoc's post:

The estimates for time remaining on this batch of work were not set correctly. To give you an idea if you have one of the beta4 work units, it should run for about an hour.

If you would like an estimate, you can go to the Advanced View of the BOINC manager and click the Reset Project button. This should update the estimated time for you.

We apologize for the inconvenience and any confusion.

Regarding using the 'Reset Project' button to update the time - don't all the files and WU's currently downloaded get aborted if you do a reset confused

Reset kills the jobs running, but will re-fetch anything not yet started, so is the theory.... but why would you, knowing that BOINC will adjust the projected times of the jobs in queue as more get completed.

I'll just leave 'em as they are I think - don't want to risk losing them all crying

Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

At 1 hour a piece you'll be needing allot of these Babies to accumulate 14 days for the Badge good luck

Popping an idea after a few fine glasses of Vino Rosso Siciliana, Doc, wondered why these 'special' projects don't have a member or host restriction of e.g. 10 a day to get the widest spread of machines testing them. Statistically it appears more interesting to me to get 10 each from 200 machines over 60 from just 30-40 machines.
