Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

Hello GIBA,
The new Autodock program that we are testing for FAAH and DDDT has a bug fix for an algorithm using Hamiltonian quaternions (so I am told). I assume that the algorithm is involved in 3-D rotations for molecules since 3-D rotations is what computer graphics normally use quaternions for. It also has been compiled with the new BOINC 6 API, which is backwards compatible. This lets us get ahead of the game.

Hey Lawrence very cool ! It's sound very good for me...

I have a M. S. in Quantum Physics, and teach and work a lot in research years ago, so I did not listen about Quartenions in the last years my friend... great surprise see that it rising again in other field of sciences with great aplicability (technology to solve problems of Diseases through grid computing... terrific guy !).

At my studies times, Quartenions used to be the best Math tool to solve Group Theory hard problems (commonly using quartenions called Hamiltonians), mainly linked with Hadron 3D molecular structures (High Energies Physics studies)... it has a fantastic Math abstratism approach to solve a lot of problems in Physics related with 3D randomic movement...

I can't imagine bether approach than WCG apply it to establish autodocks parameters and so on... very cool ! applause

Hope that it really leapfrog our position in this game...

Thank you very much for your explanation ! Best Regards. Giba. coffee

Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

I have a beta FAAH work unit on my PPC Mac and its in a loop and won't go past 12%. Should I let it loop for a while and see what happens ?

I got tired of it looping so I stopped boinc and restarted it. It now went past 12% but now the boinc process, that is run by the boinc_master user, is not responding.
I'm betting that this will end up hung like the old faah and dddt work units. crying

Hi!

8 work unit crunched away so far, but the 9th produced an error.
Task name: BETA_oryza_sativa_indica_9311_all_0000012450.
The quorum shows another work unit with error after 0.34 (mine
needed 1.84 to stop), but some were pending validation.

Result log:

Thanks mweisensee,
This is the sort of report that helps the programmers.

Re: New Beta project WU's are crunching in WCG...

Done 3 of the 2 hour version.... it finishes with the first "unit of data" to go over that limit time restriction. These per knreed are lasting about 90 seconds, but obviously with computer speed varying, they can last from under one minute to several minutes, explaining that some will see 2:00:01 hours and others will see 2:03:01 hours on a job.
