Well I am not sure what it was either. I have since tried the update button and have had no more problems. I am using 5.10.28 and its working so I am not going to mess with it...

Yesterday I lost 26 queued jobs to being cycled thru due absence of a internet connection while using 5.10.41, but only on 1 aging and ever so slightly lesser and lesser stable machine. Have upgraded to 5.10.43 beta and the same happened. It's the first time I've ever seen this after a power out when the router goes down, but the PCs keep running as on a UPS. Lasted 3 minutes. Could be the UPS power is not good enough. Fortunately it has a replaceable battery.... this one is near 6 years old.

I even updated to 5.10.43 last night on 3 quads and hit the update button, it aborted all again only on Ubuntu 7.10, 7.04 is ok. I got so disgusted I put all my rigs back to Folding for awhile until the figure out the problem....

All these versions you are trying are unlikely to help you.
I still need the output from ldd if you want further help. Type man ldd then follow the instructions. Remember, if you give up for a while then start again, WCG will abort the results you have in progress, because they have already been finished, and the deadline is long past. This is intentional. |

snip...It is Ubuntu 7.10 64. Ubuntu 7.04 64 rigs are not doing it.... I am running kubuntu 7.10 x64 here at work. I just did an "sudo apt-get install boinc-client" (and "boinc-manager") and it installed boinc 5.10.8 from the universe repo. I have had no problems to date. I'm thinking the problem is on your end so waiting for a fix may be a long time in coming ![]() |

I have upgraded my client per suggestions here. It is not my hardware, I can run SMP Folding 24/7 from now on and have passed every stability test there is. Its not getting hot either as one of the rigs are water cooled. SMP folding at home puts a lot more stress than boinc, my temps run higher with it. I am not worried about the wait, I will run Folding at Home. |

There is nothing to wait for, plewdawg.
You haven't given us sufficient information. Everything you have said so far points to a problem with your own computer, not with BOINC or WCG. |

As I said I am a linux n00b, and I am having problems with it. I typed man ldd but I have no clue what to do after that.... |

plewdawg,
Everyone is a n00b some point in life...Just hang in there. Find the science application. In my case on my 32 bit kubuntu pc at home I just installed it to my home directory. So my science application was here /home/brink/BOINC/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/. Yours may be elsewhere. I'm running dddt so my science application name was wcg_dddt_autodock_5.10_i686-pc-linux-gnu So go to the directory where the science application is running and type ldd wcg_dddt_autodock_5.10_i686-pc-linux-gnu <--your file name may look different of course. You will get a return that looks like this... linux-gate.so.1 => (0xffffe000) libdl.so.2 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libdl.so.2 (0xb7ee4000) libpthread.so.0 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libpthread.so.0 (0xb7ecc000) libc.so.6 => /lib/tls/i686/cmov/libc.so.6 (0xb7d81000) /lib/ld-linux.so.2 (0xb7efd000) Post the results. |
