Re: Beta Testing Starting Feb 22, 2008 - HCC (Help Conquer Cancer)

Well, still in orbit with Beta! I already commented in HCC thread, but I should here, and make it official. All is well, except the very high scheduled work times that come with work units. I did just ignore it. I look at actual work done, elapsed, and compare that to the % work done, to get a fix on actual time for each unit. Works well. Other than that, working lo716, HPF2. Scheduled for 52 hours, but by my method, it should be done in another 19 hours. Cheers biggrin

At least you can do the math.... someone else posted yesterday he's too old for that biggrin

The clients are momentarily confused because the techs have been altering several projects in work size (some much longer, some much shorter) and a server that concluded "insufficient data, reset to default" confusing the heck out of the estimation algorithm in the clients. It will settle again in a few days when the about 50% longer hpf2 and 'normal' faah return enough results for the servers and clients to arrive at more stable <duration_correction_factor> (DCF aka RDCF).

Re: Beta Testing Starting Feb 22, 2008 - HCC (Help Conquer Cancer)

Just got home from work. Thanks Sekerob!
OK. That makes sense... A little frenzied activity, eh!!?? biggrin One question. Since all else is stable with my using this beta, do I simply keep it, or will there be a general release down the pike that I also download? Beta is new to me, having been told by my systems person not to do them unless I explicitly trust the writers, which I do, here. No hurry, since I am enjoying myself. And I seem to be eating my proper share of pie laughing biggrin

The science software automatically updates and as the servers found your machine 'Beta usable', just leave the option selected and next time there is an (un)announced Beta for your platform it will come to you for first peek. That is of course if there are enough Beta units to go around, which usually count like 1000-2000 depending on the redundancy used.
