Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

If it is oedema, doesn't your MD propose lymphatic drainage? Are you seeing a specialized physiotherapist?

http://www.lymphedemapeople.com/wiki/doku.php..._decongestive_therapy_cdt

"This treatment was created and developed [by] Danish therapists Dr. Emil Vodder and his wife, Estrid, in the 1930's and was introduced in Paris in 1936. They are also credit[ed] with creating a specialty of medicine called Lymphology."

Basically, you need to keep moving, how ever hard that can be.

When I go to https://photos.app.goo.gl/u3Oq5aeSeMeMuhCA2 my browser turns it into https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipOBbHhdn...xdHpydFhfdll4bXNRQWg5NjFn and when I put img-tags around that I get a broken link, too.

But uhm, once you have shared it, go to photos.google.com, and then click on the picture, the URL in your browser would be something like https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPauZkxuqBuYm4BDqNXncCZdtTVhgoEEpL6GicU - right?
When I do the same for this picture and try 'Get the link', I get https://photos.app.goo.gl/kZm5q1sM36mQLbCP2 and when I put img-tags around that, I get: . And that also doesn't work. At least this is consistent. wink
And when I put img-tags around https://photos.google.com/photo/AF1QipPauZkxuqBuYm4BDqNXncCZdtTVhgoEEpL6GicU I get a broken link, too. Golly.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I'll address (we say that in Danish, too, now: adressere) your above posts shortly former captain adriverhoef.
Shortly (they have not found a way to use 'shortly' yet)

Good Morning Base Campers!
The challenges are over. They are done. Not only are they done. They are gone.
If there has been another update, we cannot see it raised eyebrow any more.
But we did make una bella figura love struck
This trek has been one of Base Camp’s best if not the best for several reasons. We had the nicest crew one can think of (except for tanner2 being AWOL with the competition most of the time), we tried challenges, and not least: we had a committed captain adriverhoef who took part on several levels, music being a new and interesting feature. And he procured that bag of charcoal suffering horrible pains and built Grand Hotel in no time. I think we shall have to conscribe adriverhoef to do fill the entertainment department on future treks.

Goodbye and thank you so much to OlddanIT, PecosRiverM, polarbeardj and little mermaid
- still lingering ipkh, Punchy@BC, yodap and ultimaThule. We look forward to forming another Base Camp crew with all of you or some of you in any combination in the future.

The Grand Hotel food was good, think, and realizing that not all of you have left yet, I’ll serve lunch.
Fillets of Fish with Fries?

If Punchy@BC's little dogs don’t like fish, we do have more woorstbrootjes fo rthem.
And for dessert we’ll have what yodap has all the time tongue
Thank you so much for making this trek so memorable hugs
ultimaThule - you remember I promised to return you unharmed to Sgt. Joe today, right? I don't like to push you, but my reputation in Minnesota is at stake worried

From my walk this afternoon:
- and now we have the last minutes of twilight

In all probability it is. Infection and blood clot has been excluded. So far I have this bandage, and I'm lucky I got it before the entire country closes down for the Christmas/New Year holidays. I suppose I should look at it as some sort of automated massage without the expensive human touch.
Are you seeing a specialized physiotherapist?
No, not yet. But tomorrow I'm lucky to have the bandaging nurse look at it and possibly do it all over again. Whoa! I shall peel the old one off and shower without that garbage bag!

I don't even know if we have this kind of specialists. I had a different kind of drainage in my armpit a couple of times after my breast cancer surgery where they took out some lymph nodes. It did not hurt, because the sensation nerves get damaged in the proces of removing the nodes. A fairly thick needle/pipe was inserted so the fluid passed into a bowl. No sedation needed (ultimaThule, take note: No sedation!) Surprisingly much fluid, I think. But it went well. My lymphatic system took over 'shortly' after the procedure, and I never had a problem with my arm such as many get.

Yes, you are absolutely right. I just took a walk. Nothing hurts. Just discomfort and not more when I walk. The biggest difficulty keeping me from moving a lot is this addiction .... d oh
I am in close contact with the AK-Centre (the anticoagulation people) that oversees my INR values - we self managing Leiden Factor V patients and others are pretty advanced. Report via the internet so all health personel nationwide can check if need be.

Thank you very much for caring, Adri rose

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Allright, thanks for your answering, Anne-Lise.
Possible causes are high blood pressure (have that checked), retaining fluid, are you urinating enough, lower your salt intake and see if that helps, and you do need compression stockings or that bandage for the moment.
The following food is advised: fresh -uncanned- pineapple, peach, lemon, pear, melon, strawberry, grape, fig, papaya, cranberry and kiwi. No alcohol. And certainly no smoking (luckily you aren't, are you?).
A specialized physiotherapist would help you the best in this case.
When you're not walking and are sitting down, you should have your leg lifted:
PHYSICAL THERAPY TREATMENT FOR EDEMA OR EFFUSION
"Seeking treatment from a Physical Therapist is easy and does not require the patient to see their doctor first. The Physical Therapist is a licensed professional who can evaluate and treat a patient without a doctor’s prescription."

You could read and learn much more about lymphedema at this site: http://www.breastcancer.org/treatment/lymphedema.
"There’s still much more research to be done before we fully understand this condition. Also, many doctors don’t have a great deal of experience with lymphedema. Realize that you may need to take charge and find your way to an experienced lymphedema therapist."

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

My blood pressure is closely monitored. I check it morning and evening three times each for three days every three months or more if needed and make an average and note the spread as well. It has indeed gone up since I started the Vagifem, so as per my consultation with my doctor on the six days ago my dosage of anti ... what do you call it ... pressureloweringmedicine was doubled.

I never use much salt. When I eat 'nondomestically' - not my own cooking - prepared food I suffer from the extra salt intake for a couple of days, unless the cooks know how to cook. The use of salt often camouflages that the food actually doesn't taste all that well. Even plain rolls from Lidl have so much salt in them ... Do you have the same experience? And yes - should we really discuss this? blushing OK you said a good deal of posts back that Danes are outspoken. ...
Well that part is in order and is also monitored in order to control a certain hyperactive bladder which goes to fitness school. What comes in is measured against output. A fairly good development was - in my conception - also interrupted by Vagifem.
Honey, could I have you for a doctor? tongue
I'm afraid I'm a bit beyond compression stockings, but the bandaging nurse will evaluate that tomorrow.
As to my diet, oh! your suggestions sounds nice. Tonight, however it will be a rice porridge with butter, sugar and cinnamon plus an almost non-alcoholic beer which is a Christmas beer, sweet and dark - half the portion will be for rice à l'amande for the Christmas dinner I'll make tomorrow. BTW - always time for digression, right? - in the moveie 'Zwartboek' the young Jewish woman being hid by a very religious family, makes a cross from what I see as siroop or stroop on her morning oat meal.
No alcohol sad That's a pity. I gave up cigarettes cold turkey 12 years ago cool
When I sit at my desk, it's not good. Now I stand at the kitchen counter. That's not good. I think it's time for more 'Zwartboek' or a book and a fodskammel

I'm confident it will clear up and that I will be helped. My doctor is a young woman who will finish her education come April. She's the first GP doctor ever who has helped me, worked with me and respected me - and now I have you, too, Adri smile Believe me: there is a placebo effect there.
In Denmark we need a referral for a physiotherapist (if we don't want to pay through our noses), but the country is pretty much on hold for another week.
But they will be in business for emergencies
smile
