Adri, I always thought 'Rob' was short for Roberto - even Robertino
- but right in front of our collective noses are Rob is no unisex name, is it? ![]() Rob de Nijs And Rob Rensenbrink whose first name was not Rob, but who was one heck of a football player ... ![]() |

I have someone here very dear to me who lost two husbands due to lungcancer and she herself suffered from Fallopian tubes-cancer fifteen years ago; she is a moderator of a Dutch internetforum on issues with cancer and she takes part in WCG, too. She is assisting me in answering your posts in this special case. Because of her former workcircles she has a more than average interest in and knowledge of medical affairs. I'm sorry for the ordeal your friend has suffered. Would you, please, thank her for her advice from me?And as for the Tamoxifen and Femar being chemotherapy - well, yes, sort of, but not in the conventional meaning of chemotherapy where you vomit no end and lose your hair - the poison one. By the way, it's not cut, burn, and poison as I said, but slash .... How is your health, Adri? Besides me wearing 'sexy' compression stockings I'm just fine, Anne-Lise. Wauw ![]() That's why you know those webstores so well ![]() I'm glad you are fine. Also because your friend needs not lose one more man. ![]() |

Good Morning Base Campers!
Do you like doing taxes? ![]() In Denmark they generated an automated estimate for what they expect you to pay during 2018 a few months ago based on what you took in in 2016. For most people who have the same pattern of income from year to year this usually fits fairly well. And many who have fluctuating incomes and deductions cannot be bothered adjusting. But if you’re an idiot like me who 1. wants to make the tax fit your own best estimate of your income 2. wants to be able to calculate your own taxes which I suppose the vast majority of Danes have given up ![]() you have your hands full. Each year the tax code undergo changes. I’m an autodidact computer user and years ago I carefully crafted a set of Excel the 1997 edition – hush - which I still use with Windows 10 spread sheets with crisscrossing chains, which allowed the small business my ex and I ran at the time to know exactly where we stood moneywise on a daily basis. It was fun to do. Now the complex of spreadsheets has shrunk, but my interest in getting them to work has not. My ambition still is to land at the same figure at the Tax authorities when the year is over. Some years I have come very close. This morning I did this exercise. Collecting the new information needed – tax percentages for state, health, town, deductions, brackets and what have you – is no small task. Putting them into your spread sheet is fairly simple, but then: You have to enter it at the Tax website, and it invariably malfunctions, so it takes me hours and a frustration that brings me into that dangerous red zone before it’s over … if only they would make that website work reliably … ![]() When living in the US we had our first taxes done by H&R Block. The year after my ex had started his own busines, so thinking this tax return would be awfully complicated, we went to an accountant to have our tax done. He charged through his nose, so I bought the tax code and read it and did our taxes myself for the remainder of our stay. It was a thick book. The contents of it was neither more nor less complicated than that of its Danish equivalent. Different language same digits. I'm afraid taxes and spreadsheets on a minor scale are another odd fetish of mine ![]() And I have cooled down. ![]() Lunch I notice EVGA-boys yodap and ipkh hang on to top40.nl - and ultimaThule has constructed his own sauna there which I interpret as an intention to stay for a while, so thinking I'm still an employee of Grand Hotel I grabbed some open sandwiches for all of you. May you have a good crunching day without pit stops. ![]() |

Got the frontdeskcomputer running again, although it crashed in the early morning, so a reboot was in order again.
Rob is short for Robert and we all know Robbie Williams, but Peter Koelewijn is singing (in English, in French) about Radio Veronica-dj Rob "Egbert Douwe" Out. I'll add his song Kom Uit De Bedstee M'n Liefste to FC Language United. I cannot imagine why anyone would name their daughter Rob, it's a male name, but you'll never know. Speurneus (pronunciation; the first 'eu' is pronounced slightly different from the second 'eu' because of the difference in consonants following the 'eu') is a combination of the verb speuren (to investigate/track/trail/snoop) and the noun neus (nose), in fact don't we have an artist named Snoop Doggy Dogg? ![]() About chemotherapy: my friend suggests you could take a look at the word 'cytostatics'. It doesn't necessarily mean that you will lose your hair or get sick to no end. She's thanking you. Progress: the OCR'd pages are now at 15% - with more OCR pages to be added, so the percentage will drop again in the near soon-to-be future. |

Congratulations with your reviving the frontdeskcomputer. Well done!
I specifically meant Rob as short for Italian Roberto, because I thought SekeRob**** was/is Italian. We have Roberts, too, and they are ALWAYS male. Listen, if you can name a girl Adri and a boy Adri in the Netherlands, I see nor reason why you should stop at Rob ![]() Robbie Williams - or Robin Williams ![]() - Robin which as far as I know is a female name, as well, sometimes spelled Robyn. Chemotherapy always reminds me of the young female veterinary student with brain cancer waiting for her radiation treatment and the little boy who was wheeled into one of the chemo rooms while he calmly concentrated on his Gameboy in the 'underbasement' and Annette Strøyberg who was Brigitte Bardot's successor with French director Roger Vadim and a fabulous model for Gold Tuborg beer still looking wonderful being treated for breast cancer ... ![]() |

A typical Dutch saying is: "iets door de vingers zien" = (lit.) to see something through the fingers; (fig.) to turn a blind eye to something.
![]() Compare German: etwas durch die Finger sehen. "For this time we'll see it through the fingers" |

Oh boy, could those guys use Little Mermaid Cleaning Service!
![]() Say, adriverhoef, have you fully recovered from that charcoalbagconcussion? ![]() Yes, we Danes know all about 'look through the fingers' ~ 'se gennem fingrene' with this or that. After all it was during the Battle of Copenhagen admiral Horatio Nelson started the trend by putting his telescope to his blind eye Later those Brits stole our Navy ![]() ![]() - and thank you, but no, Adri, I cannot go to the movies with you Saturday night. I have two Verabredungen for the same movie, so I'm afraid you'll have to queue up |

Good Morning Base Campers!
I apologize for a couple of borderline posts yesterday. I’m pleased to say they were handled absolutely satisfactorily within the infinite limits of Base Camp. Admiral Horatio Nelson put his blind eye to his telescope, and I looked through my fingers. ![]() No need to be upset over one little episode, as adriverhoef suggested, is there? The line was not crossed – merely trampled upon ![]() We’re a tolerant bunch, and our former captain adriverhoef has in all probability not recovered fully from that charcoalbagblow yet. Also, he did not complain or put on a silly hat when I made advances to him … ![]() So, I see no need to wear this ridiculous hat Rosie bought yesterday ![]() Still performing my Grand Hotel duties - and they are not voluntary ![]() - they are obsesssive, compulsive ![]() ipkh and yodap from Crunching@EVGA are still crunching with top40.nl and so is ultimaThule. Lunch will be a pizza I can make and bake a pizza with pineapple and shimps Still lying low at MyOnlineTeam from where I shall soon join Crunching@EVGA. They have no WCG challenges in January, so the amount of WUs I’ll be able to crunch doesn’t matter all that much; it's more of an recreational trip. I have a trek in mind. Not that it’s a small team that cannot carry their own, but because I fell in love with Budapest and her surroundings and want to go back, and because Zeonfx fixed his country when he saw this. That’s how little it takes to lure ME and he didn't even try ![]() My production will go down, because I have to let Elgiganten ![]() ![]() 10 days ago my doctor doubled my dose of antihypertensive medicine. I have abscenses ![]() ![]() Upstairs Yvonne is happy with everything in Andalusia she reports on an almost daily basis …. inclusive of the weather Norwitchian flies to Fort Lauderdale with their Dreamliner … ![]() ![]() Adri, has thunder7 passed you? Anyway, he has been to this place a couple of times this morning, and I assume he would like to speak with you. Couldn't you leave a message for him, please?[/ Not to pretend to understand men .... just trying to be helpful ![]() color] |
