Re: laughingCan You Save Al Gore?laughing

If a single volcanic eruption can spew as many 'greenhouse gases' in a matter of hours as all the cars & trucks in the entire world do in 10 years

Have some data to back that one up...?

INFLUENCE ON THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT:

Volcanic eruptions can enhance global warming by adding CO2 to the atmosphere. However, a far greater amount of CO2 is contributed to the atmosphere by human activities each year than by volcanic eruptions. T.M.Gerlach (1991, American Geophysical Union) notes that human-made CO2 are dwarfed the estimated global release of CO2 from volcanoes by at least 150 times. The small amount of global warming caused by eruption-generated greenhouse gases is offset by the far greater amount of global cooling caused by eruption-generated particles in the stratosphere (the haze effect). Greenhouse warming of the earth has been particularly evident since 1980. Without the cooling influence of such eruptions as El Chichon (1982) and Mt. Pinatubo (1991), described below, greenhouse warming would have been more pronounced.

Indeed interested also because cars/trucks are estimated to contributed about 5% of total human made CO2 production. With man's action generating 150x, simple summing makes me arrive at cars/trucks producing 7.5 times more than volcanic output.... so how do we get to 2 hours of volcanic activity of 1 to be producing enough to equal 10 years of automobiles/rigs?

I can't find the article, I read it about 5 years ago.
But it stated what I repeated.
I don't deny that some effects may be manmade, but a majority of the warming/cooling can be looked at in a historical perspective & the patterns seen to repeat over & over without human intervention.
No matter which side of the debate you're on, there will be articles by one 'authority' or another that contradict each other.

Re: laughingCan You Save Al Gore?laughing

The reason for my sarcasm in prior threads:
More than 15 years ago while working for the scientific department of the European Parliament I was already confronted with an abundance of scientific studies stating the importance/imminence of climate change. Since then it feels like getting a slap in the face every day by those who still dare to deny the ever growing avalanche of facts and proofs - tens of thousands studies so far.
Would you stand up and recall Einstein's theory of relativity today?

Please consider the following series with convincing support that global warming is nothing new. In 1976, scientists where concerned that another ice age was eminent given 40 years of lower temperatures!

Human-produced CO2 does not cause global warming...see the series.

Here's a name to remember

http://stommel.tamu.edu/~baum/paleo/paleogloss/node38.html#RossbyCarlGustav

His discovery now called Rossby Waves are the reason behind the appaling Summer we have had in the UK this year compared with the scorcher we had last year

This Climate Science is way more complicated than Al and his tax collecting and guilt spreading buddies would have you believe

We will be having North Winds in the UK over the weekend it's going to be Chilly in August instead of our usual Warm South Westerlies and High Pressure Systems. It's been like this ever since those Water Companies issued their "Drought Orders"
