Re: Request for new "Community" forums

And for now, that is all that needs to be said. Feel free to raise the issue again in a few months time.

OK, just don't pounce on me when I do. It's not my fault if people misinterpret what I'm saying or read something into it that was never intended.

But why still the comparison to C&S? I've already said the new forum should be devoted to non-discussion threads SUCH AS games but not limited to that. There are at least one or two dozen non-discussion threads that could go there so it isn't even a matter of having to speculate on whether or not it would be used. Those threads are active and would continue to be so even after being transplanted. The ONLY problem would be delineating between discussion and non-discussion threads, but a little thought I'm sure would solve that problem. A little initial policing by the CA's might be required, but that would be temporary.

I don't expect there to be any rush on this. But it is fallacious to use activity in C&S as a variable in the equation. You'd be transplanting EXISTING and ACTIVE threads - no uncertainty involved - AT ALL.

I've got this calendared for mid-August so I'll bring it up again then.

Re: Request for new "Community" forums

I have to agree with twilyth here that we should not use the usage of the C&S section as a benchmark for considering any future additional sections - as has already been stated, and by the very nature of the topic, its use will be slow and evolve over time - it will not be a place for frivilous chat or posts, but a place for quiet contemplation and for folks to use when the time is right and when they feel able to share their thoughts and experiences.

Ady,

Remember when I was "grave stone dancing" in C&S? You said that I should rush right up and create this very thread. Yet now you look like those to who this thread would have been intended.

Re: Request for new "Community" forums

Hi Courine,

As I said in your team thread I didn't think you were 'grave stone dancing' in C&S - you were way too hard on yourself over that, and I'm glad this thread was eventually posted so it can be put on the 'to-do' list.

But I'm sorry you are going to have to explain your next bit: "Yet now you look like those to who this thread would have been intended." as I'm not sure what your trying to say?

CliffsNotes for ady:

courine has new forum suggestion but posts in wrong section
ady comments on forum use
courine objects to comments and thinks ady opposes her idea
ady now openly favors idea
courine says 'i told you so'
ady is now confused

Re: Request for new "Community" forums

Yes, although the part that isnt obviouse is that i assumed that the C&S "WAS" the needed change, not a highway to a graveyard.

Realize that if nothing is dont to improve forum health soon, the damage wont be mine to explain. But rest assured, I will be here to say 'told you so'.

courine, i suggest you back off now or you will find people taking offense against your dissenting posts. This is NOT grid.org! This is WCGrid.

And for Pete's sake, start using a spell-checker.

Re: Request for new "Community" forums

from what i see, people are still finding their games, threads etc. no one is really offended by the discussion about future formats.

by the way, i guess we are just lucky the 'C&S' section is not busy, because that means not too many people have been dying lately! biggrin
