Re: The Formula One Thread

What a nail biting time for a viewer as is always the case when it's wet, dry, wet.
But the result was probably right for the season. Massa has come on bounds and will surely win a championship soon.
Now we can have a sleep for a few months.

Well what a finish!
Congrats to LH and Ferrari for winning the championships.
Now Ferrari needs to build a car again that suits Kimi so he can rule the field. cool

Re: The Formula One Thread

What I find very good is that for two years running the driver's championship has been won by a single point.
There are now a good bunch of top drivers and I don't think we're going to have predictable seasons as it was a few time when Schumi reigned.

BBC now has the television rights here so we'll see if they can keep up the good coverage that ITV have developed. With the number of viewers the current racing has produced they may feel it's perhaps not the best time to switch to second tier football.

I know what you mean. F1 went from one channel to another over here, fortunately the commentator moved along with it.
Unfortunately F1 went to a channel a couple of years back that introduced commercial breaks during the race and they did it that often and long that they got a lot criticism for that.
So then the commercial breaks stayed but less frequent and the race is still shown picture in picture.
I think we never get rid of that and it's quite annoying to look at such a small view whithout commentary during breaks.
So when it's commercial break time I switch to the Belgium public channel which shows the whole race without breaks, only their commentary is not that good.
Ah well, most important is to see the race...and Ferrari.. tongue biggrin

Ecclestone aiming for medals in 2009
http://f1.gpupdate.net/en/news/2008/11/26/ecclestone-aiming-for-medals-in-2009/

F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone is aiming to change the way the drivers' championship is decided as soon as the 2009 season, with the introduction of a medal system that would see the driver with the most race wins take the championship.
Under Ecclestone's proposals Lewis Hamilton would not have won this year's championship.
