What matters is my place on the podium, that MM`s after, but I`ll find a way keep him behind! ![]() As I gain 10-15K points per day on you, it wont be long before I take your spot away. Just keep your list sorted on results returned and you will stay ahead. ![]() Yea I have to console myself with "Date joined" But did you see me sneak past or fearless leader to steal away 5th place in the overall standings. Might be short lived as she is looking at adding some more horsepower into her crunching, but for now the Pink Pie is all mine. I have another cou duo on the way, trying to hang onto #2 LOL! Vista really sucks with BOINC, you need to install outside program files or tweak program files to allow writes. What a stupid way to set it up, they call it security. I call it putting the ignition switch in the trunk. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

We are looking at addign 2 more Quad Core Dual Xeons in the office for webservers. I wonder how well Boinc works under Red Hat? Then of course there is the Dual Xeon that they would be replacing. What ever will be done with that box.

MM, should be no problem. I have one running on Fedora, just not here. Been having problems getting it to connect to a project. But it does run boinc.
----------------------------------------Im using it to prove out a concept for "drivebay crunching" Also, if you want a custom siggy, let me know. If you or Roger want a "Special Op's" siggy, im sure i could come up with one. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

OK MM, I can't keep your pace...
You'll have absolutely no probs under Linux. My office server (UBUNTU) doing just fine without any intervention. Cargod: VISTA problem: I can't imagine what your problem is with VISTA! You install BOINC as a service and you have nothing to worry about. You can manage your agent from BoincStats site. I have Vista ultimate HU and I just swithc on my PC in the morning and its running fine, only the boinc manager app needs a little attention, but you dont need that running... |

On the new laptop, it is 'blocked' at startup. No reason for that other than some idiot at MS decided to protect us from ourselves. And they make it so you either have to install in a non-default location or change the permissions on the Program Files folder. I don't see Vista as an upgrade to anything (ok, maybe it's better than HP Basic...but that was 1969...) ![]() ![]() ![]() |
