Re: The: I'm WAY Too Bored Thread

Thank you all for the rather, oh, shall I say, delightful discussion about the local boutique that offers coffee( sorry, cafe') to users. Yes, splendid. I would offer further that, beautiful scenery excluded, that cup of joe would certainly titillate the senses, almost to the point that I could have a short memory lapse and almost forget the cup of true swill I was offered at the local concern of Jack in the Box, just the other day....

So what should I do to get nelsoc'ed? smile I hope nelsoc wouldn't get offended by that question.

Anyway, what particular project in WCG will give the most points per day? Should I crunch lots of Genomes or crunch a few FAAHs instead?

Re: The: I'm WAY Too Bored Thread

Hi cio_redulla

On the same PC with the same existing workload you will get just as many points whatever kind of work unit you are crunching throughout the day

for the more pedantic this is especially true if you use BOINC as the PC preloads the next Work Unit whereas the UD agent will run a benchmark between work units and so short work units means more benchmarks less wu number crunching and therefore less points.

HDC's and FCG's usually shorter than the others

At the risk of starting another round of points fever if you like lots of points use BOINC (+ it has the advantage of muti cpu/core support for even more number crunching and points and is slightly more efficient on account of the preloading of WU)

back to the boredom

Dave

Re: The: I'm WAY Too Bored Thread

p.s. publishing the master of ready wit joke in full on this forum will get you nelsoc'ed

It's a scientific project that is hopefully presented to school kids along the way - while it may be true or not that kids these days use what us oldies might consider foul language as a matter of course there's no need for it on the forum so all we ask is

keep it clean

It's not much to ask is it

take care

Dave
