Hmm, I can somewhat speculate what "alleen voor intimi" means. Roughly "only for the intimite?" What does "intimi" mean? (I don't speak Dutch or Flemish/Belgian).

(A Google search turns up a Lingerie shop called Intimi. Is this the reference)

Interesting riposte, Sekerob. (Yes, I will use your correct name as well).

PS: Things are working now. I've cleared up my backlog of downloads for new units, and uploaded my completed results. For the entire down-time, I only saw MD5 errors on FCG units only (MD5 check failed for fcg1.10000842.faa) yet some of the MD5-failed work units ares showing in my task list as ready to run and some are not.

Re: Unable to upload finished work units

if interested in genealogy, your name is Dutch as can be..... your guess was perfect, the Google put u on the wrong track..... but isn't that intimate too (both in English and American) :D

In the end, things worked out to be rather benign from a client perspective. 1 file server had a software bug, 1 continued (the distribution is split 50/50), thus u will find where 50% remains to be happy as a clam and the other 50% getting up tight. I was on the clam side.

cheers

I am first generation Canadian, with very Dutch parents, one of whom extensively researched the Schepers name. Around here, however, my name is looked at (and most pronounce it) like I'm from Mars. Makes life interesting.

I noticed after I posted that I misspelled intimate. Oh well. I could find no online translators which knew what "intimi" was but the rest of the words I knew. I thought the Google search results were quite relevant, given the company's product.

So I am always on one server, and someone else will always be on the other? No load-sharing, round-robin'ing?

probably it's pronounced as Shapers or as here in Italy as Skapers. Schepers and Scheveningen were names the Dutch made the potential German spies speak in the 2nd world war to make out if they were really Dutch. 'Huis' was another word. Unless learned from the cradle its next to impossible to get the pronunciation right.

As for Round Robin, I'm doubtful any particular member is linked permanently to one or the other server. knreed actually made it for one to fail over to the other, to return service, whilst the current problem is investigated. He can confirm how it functions. That said, major work is ongoing to significantly improve reliability and fall-back.

Re: Unable to upload finished work units

Update to the BOINC server problem:

1. I'm still seeing MD5 hash failures only for FCG tasks.

2. I checked some of my machines and noted the following stats. All of my machines are running BOINC 5.8.0 or 5.8.1, and are all set to cache 1 days worth of jobs (work_buf_min_days).

System 1:
P4 2.16 dual core
67 tasks waiting to run
2 running
DCF=1.247
Connected frac=.000036

System 2:
P4 3.0Ghz HT
36 tasks waiting to run
2 running
DCF=1.55
Connected frac=.044577

System 3:
P4 2.8Ghz HT
32 tasks waiting to run
2 running
DCF=1.3808
Connected frac=1

System 4:
P4 2.8Ghz HT
18 tasks waiting to run
2 running
DCF=2.178
Connected frac=1

Question: Why do I now have 67 tasks waiting on one machine? This is only a sample of a few of the machines I'm running. I check these machines every few days and they don't normally have more than 8-16 tasks waiting, with the dual-core normally having a few more. Is this a result of this mornings server down-time?

I'm worried that the one with 67 waiting can't finish them in the 1 week timeframe. Even the others with 36 and 32 might be hard pressed to finish on time, and these run 24/7 running parallel tasks.

It's inbetween SH and SK. It's a sound that can't be written, a gravelly K.

Thanks for the history lesson on my name! That was info I didn't know about.

I will end this tangential topic now. (I finally made it past "cruncher"!)

confused Re: Unable to upload finished work units

I am in Taiwan, and I have a computer runs World Community Grid with BOINC Version 5.4.11 now.

I also find that my computer can not upload finished workunits and download new workunits, so I have made my computer not to run World Community Grid with BOINC. I let my computer run other projects like SETI@Home with BOINC instead.

In fact, all the workunits of World Community Grid run on my computer are FightAIDS@Home workunits, although I have joined other projects of World Community Grid. My computer only runs FightAIDS@Home workunits using FightAIDS@Home's program version faah 5.28 recently, and it has already reported three workunits (One was success and got points/credits, the other two were shown computed error.) before this case happens. And when this case happens, the workunits are also FightAIDS@Home workunits. They are not downloaded completely, even though my computer has retried several times. Then I have reset this project, but the same case still happens.

Maybe I would compare with other people's results of those workunits several days later, and I could know if they still have the same condition. If I find only my computer has this case at that time, I could think this is my computer's problem.

Re: Unable to upload finished work units

I had some transient file problems on both upload and download this morning.

See known issues (read only) at the top of the forum. It was fixed. My own uploads and downloads are running now.

See whether you have the same problem when you try again.
