This problem is not related to statistics update - I think it's related to permissions on disk (error 403)
My devices unable to download/upload during last 5 hours!!! |

I am having both download and upload problems as well. BOINC 5.4.11, Windows XP on at least two systems. It started with MD5 errors on downloads of new tasks (fcg and faah) and now I also cannot upload finished results (hdc and faah). So I am guessing all work types are failing.

See my post 2 up...... and like clockwork, systems are available again and just been able to upload work and fetch new. This outage is not a simple stats update, Sek. When you get this many people complaining that their BOINC client can't up/download, there's an issue. I can't talk to the servers either, no up or download. Local time, communications went down about 3:00AM. It's 8:22AM now and still nothing, and yes my network is OK. I'm seeing MD5 hash errors, HTTP errors, "Error on file upload: can't open file", etc. I have all my machines set to have 1 day of jobs, so I won't run out soon. |

I'll just chime in to say I have multiple machines running BOINC 5.4.9 with the same problems - can't upload and can't download. Nothing on those machines (other than a McAfee updated DAT file last night) has changed since they were checked and working (over the weekend).
I have just tried disabling McAfee on a machine and retrying communications, with no change in behavior. I tried on one machine to uninstall, clean files & registry, and reinstall, with no changes (other than losing my in-process work units). Unfortunately, my PCs seem to have a lot of work to be uploaded and not much left to compute. Thanks for listening. Cheers Fred B Team Captain - Homebrewers |

It's not the Stats that runs on Wednesday morning, scheep... It's the backup! The initial messages were from during the backup! Sometimes the servers don't come back on line after that and as tweaking work is in progress, which is why only twice a day stats are run and not 4x a day, hitches do occur. The net is that i am able to upload HDC and FCG1 from 2 machines, not 10 minutes the last few. People Report not able to upload FAAH or download work from various projects. If u cant upload work for other than FAAH, let us know and we'll broaden the alert.
----------------------------------------There's some very bad weather on going in the US and the hosting servers are in Colorado, so who knows. One member reporting MD5 errors (likely fcg1), indicates that comms is effected. Best guesstimate and until the techs are back we wont know. Oh, and stats of 12:06 UTC did run and complete proper. Midday figures are normal, indicating that the outages are partial. Let's wait and see what happens when the WCG is returning to business. Update: Just see knreed posted a link to an update.

It's not the Stats that runs on Wednesday morning, scheep... It's the backup! Sek, calm down, and get my name right. Yes, the initial reports were possibly through a backup period but I'm not privy to this info. The accumulated reports certainly show something different. Checking the logs and messages showed something major. If u cant upload work for other than FAAH, let us know and we'll broaden the alert. As I reported I can't up/down anything. Been like this for at least 6 hours, maybe longer. One member reporting MD5 errors (likely fcg1), indicates that comms is effected. As I reported as well, but I am glad to see that this problem has been confirmed (knreed) and is being worked on. ... I just checked and things might be coming back now (local time 9:16AM). Finally completed a work unit down without errors. I'm deferred for a few minutes so I will attempt an update later to see how the upload works. |
