Thank you Tomahawk4196 for the laugh ! I spewed my coffee so I had to change into my t-shirt that says "I survived the great Krembil Transition of '22"

Yes, I agree with you Tomahawk4169. Constructive criticism is one thing, but
constant negative comments help nothing. System isn't running perfectly but it is much improved. |

What is the recommended buffer of workunits? I put
<work_buf_additional_days>3.0</work_buf_additional_days> in global_prefs_override.xml, but I don't get enough work - I have 708 tasks waiting, which means about 32 hours. Yesterday, I briefly got above 1000 tasks. Better, but still not 3 days. What rules does the project use to give out tasks? |

What rules does the project use to give out tasks? There is a limit of 1000 tasks per client, after overshooting that you will get "Too many runnable tasks", and then there is the limit of 70 tasks per thread. |

Still, I'm currently at 812 (including 88 actively being processed), and this doesn't look too good:
----------------------------------------$ boinccmd --get_messages | grep -c "Finished upload" 187 $ boinccmd --get_messages | grep -c "Finished download" 94 I uploaded 187 tasks, and got 94 back. [Edit 1 times, last edit by thunder7 at Dec 22, 2022 7:43:45 AM] |

out of tasks again? The rate of new tasks seems to be slow. The fastest machines are completely dry, the slower ones have some work. ![]() |

I also see a new message since about 2 hours:
----------------------------------------'[World Community Grid] Tasks are committed to other platforms' like this: 2112: 22-Dec-2022 06:34:49 (low) [World Community Grid] Reporting 13 completed tasks [Edit 1 times, last edit by thunder7 at Dec 22, 2022 7:53:39 AM] |

You’ve spiked my curiosity and I want to learn more. That limit has been in effect for a long time. It may be time to revisit that number based on the crunching capability of newer systems with 128+(or more) threads. If there is a steady supply of work units this number becomes somewhat irrelevant as it would be unnecessary to cache 3 or more days work. If there is sporadic availability then a cache of 3 days work seems pretty reasonable. Maybe once Krembil gets some more of the kinks worked out, this issue will come up for consideration. Cheers
Sgt. Joe
