My queue of MCM tasks is running low, JSateson, because I have not gotten any new tasks in the past hour. We have only had MCM tasks for the past couple of weeks. I expect things to pick up when Krembil returns from holiday.

]I haven't had one run completely dry recently, but I have to constantly press refresh to try to keep a few jobs ready to go. I am seeing them run with idle cores if I am away from my desk for a few hours. Ith 40 cores, there is a WU completing every few minutes. Right now, 9 will complete in less than 2 minutes. Haven't seen this since the recovery of the dried up feeder before Xmas. And do not refresh manually if there is no stuck transfer, upload or download, which hasn't happen now for a while neither.Cheers This morning for example, my programming laptop (6C/12T i7) had 6 more WUs "ready to start" when I first checked after getting up, when I checked again 20 min later after a quick breakfast, it had loaded up with the normal 0.6 days that is set by default in the BOINC client. The only weird thing is that not all hosts act the same. Some others, like the two new servers here in the office, they are always filled up with plenty of WUs (at least a full screen page), even when they have 8C/16T and 64GB of RAM. Also on some hosts, it might take a couple hours after finish/upload a WU to report them, while on others, regardless of the amount of WUs sitting "Ready to start", the WUs are being reported within seconds of a (couple of) WU(s) uploaded... WCG team,
My machines continue to run dry of tasks to run. Does the MCM project have work to complete? Can more tasks be released to complete the work? When my machines do get work the number of new tasks received in 1,2,4,8,14. In the past it would be 60 plus new tasks (two hours of work on the AMD 7950X). "Tasks are committed to other platforms' is the common message. |

Hello Blount, and happy new year.
Yes, MCM is running as usual and there are plenty of workunits. As other projects are slowing down, it is possible that more volunteers are processing MCM workunits, and hence why you are receiving fewer ones |

There were significantly higher production rates of MCM during 2021. The daily processing times now are far less compared to mid-2021.Cheers |

I stopped receiving all WCG work units just before Christmas. Since then all my hosts have been reportiing that no CPU work units are available (and none at all in the case of Open Pandemics):
05/01/2023 01:00:11 | World Community Grid | Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks Curiously, I continue to scream up the WCG league table every day, despite not having had any results awaiting validation for at least a week now. |

MCM team, Thank-you for your response. I assume that means everything from your end is getting processed in a timely manner. If so, I think you are missing an opportunity to get massive amounts of work completed earlier. With all the other projects on pause, hold, etc. Then there is compute power waiting to cobble up MCM work.
How about doubling the MCM works until the others get going.? (instead of 10,000 every 10 minutes have 10,000 every 5 minutes) That way maybe my machines will actually find some work to process. :) |

I'm not even getting enough WUs to keep my machines busy. Odd isn't it when I have 1/3 of my tasks waiting for validation, and there is a six-day deadline on WUs that take 1 to 2 hours to complete?[Edit 1 times, last edit by Vester at Jan 5, 2023 5:34:37 PM] |
