Re: WU issues are being worked on

The last of my systems that were missing from the DEVICES listing have now appeared.

I have changed their profiles from DEFAULT to the desired profiles.

Thanks team!

Re: WU issues are being worked on

To all those who are upset they had nothing to crunch on (Are you guys heating your houses with that?), I recommend doing what I did and downloading tasks for two days ahead. My boxes had negligible down time. One was idle so I shut it down, no biggie.

Re: WU issues are being worked on

"In no field or enterprise would WCG get designated as a critical system, and we all need to stop expecting the Krembil team to act as if it were. All these negative posts aren't helping anyone; they can't be good for morale at Krembil and it sure makes these forums less pleasant to be on."

Yes, all of this.

It is true that Krembil's early promises raised everyone's expectations, but we must recognize that their eyes were a bit bigger than their stomachs, so we need to manage our own expectations to be more realistic.

Chill out, they will eventually get it sorted - maybe you can make up some t-shirts that say "I survived the great Krembil Transition of '22", so you can tell your grandchildren cool

Workunits: We have managed to fix the workunits shortage problem, and WUs should return to the usual level of availability over the next few hours.
An expired token for a service account on one of our servers caused a number of important processes to halt and be descheduled. We will review our DevOps processes and improve our monitoring to ensure that this does not happen again.

WCG team

Ooo, these kinds of technical details and root cause analysis are very much appreciated. Thank you.

FWIW, I decided to bring another PC online for WCG, and I'm unable to get work units. 7:30 PM EST on Tuesday evening.

I, for one, would love to get past the sarcoma datasets and onto the others like pancreatic cancer. Surely there's plenty of work units to be generated?

Cyclops - I think there is a validator problem. Grumpy Swede posted about it, and I agree with him that it there is a problem with WUs having multiple results submitted, but not validated. I'm also not getting ARP WUs anymore.

I'll third that. I got a WU that is an _2, and looked at the other previous copies of it to see why I'm getting it (I'm curious that way) and found that _0 and _1 are both in a PENDING VALIDATION state. Obviously that situation should never happen.

I also have an OPN WU that only has an _0 in a PENDING VALIDATION state, where a _1 doesn't exist or was never sent out, which I would believe if more of the former than the later.

Defo a validator issue whether it's down or something else.

There must be something going on because I do have some recent work units which have been marked valid with both OPN and MCM. However, I show a little over 700 units pending validation which somewhat above normal for me. Maybe the validators are just backed up for the moment. Could be another bottleneck in their system.
Cheers

I also see problem with validators for OPN and MCM.
Some WUs passed validation but majority waiting in queue for more than 12 hours.

Also valid for ARP.
