Workunits: We have managed to fix the workunits shortage problem, and WUs should return to the usual level of availability over the next few hours.
----------------------------------------An expired token for a service account on one of our servers caused a number of important processes to halt and be descheduled. We will review our DevOps processes and improve our monitoring to ensure that this does not happen again. Email: We would like to apologize to users who have kindly sent in a support ticket and did not receive any reply. While we have received and kept all inbound mail, outbound emails were being dropped by our SMTP relay due to updates made to the ticketing system last week, which introduced this bug. We fixed the issue today, and identified a separate issue causing an inbound mail submitted via the “Contact Us” form on the website was incorrectly labeling some valid submissions as spam and ignoring them. We will manually review the backlog of incorrectly ignored emails and respond to them. If you have any comments or questions, please leave them in this thread for us to answer. Thank you for your support, patience and understanding. WCG team [Edit 2 times, last edit by Cyclops at Dec 20, 2022 1:39:03 AM] |

Thanks. The first step is to acknowledge a problem :-). I look forward to a flood of WUs (and hopefully minor http errors, or none, but we are all dry at the moment).

Thanks. The first step is to acknowledge a problem :-).. Well, that first step should have been taken Friday evening!Ralf Have you still not adjusted your expectations? WCG is no longer a project with a dedicated tech support team. The MCM research team is the WCG tech team. Why should we expect them to work Friday night and over the weekend when we can simply work through our WU caches and then switch to another project (or power down) for a few days? In no field or enterprise would WCG get designated as a critical system, and we all need to stop expecting the Krembil team to act as if it were. All these negative posts aren't helping anyone; they can't be good for morale at Krembil and it sure makes these forums less pleasant to be on. |

So we are all now supposed to put on our rose colored glasses and pretend everything is just peachy fine? Sorry, Krembil is making advertising for its research prowess that they are running WCG. At that point, this becomes a money game, on the back of the volunteers here that spend their time and resources pretty much on Krembil's behalf. If this is just another basement or garage based project, then Krembil should stop pretending and clearly state this... Ralf ![]() |

Ralf There is a lot of space between wearing rose colored glasses and being a jerk about the current situation. We all know that there are still a ton of issues--technical, organizational, procedural--and that things are not running smoothly at all. What really isn't helpful, and just comes off as mean-spirited, is you (and others) telling us so multiple times a day, every day. |

There is a lot of space between wearing rose colored glasses and being a jerk about the current situation. We all know that there are still a ton of issues--technical, organizational, procedural--and that things are not running smoothly at all. What really isn't helpful, and just comes off as mean-spirited, is you (and others) telling us so multiple times a day, every day. Well, looks like you are already wearing such glasses. As I mentioned in another post, what you (and everyone else, including the folks at Krembil) keeps forgetting is the whole timeline of the project. These issues are not just happening since yesterday, Friday night or even since last week Friday. This is going on for at least 6 months, with Krembil actually supposed to be working on this for up to 15 months, when the announcement was made that they are taking the project over from IBM. This has nothing to do with being "mean spirited", in fact me (and at least a couple others) have offered to help, to actively work with Krembil to work out the kinks and get this going. To zero (0) effect. All that we get are pretty much every week major issues instead of a real progress. There is the issue of retro-actively fixing the stats for the time from June through September 28th. This has been acknowledged and we were told "this is being worked on". For three months now! So Krembil can pull our leg continuously and when someone is seriously complaining about this, then this is considered "mean spirited"? Please check Cyclops "status update" posts over the last few months and then compare this with the times the system went down or major issues crept up, just after that. At times it seems as some folks, both at Krembil and some of the volunteers, are living in an alternate universe... ![]() Ralf ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by TPCBF at Dec 19, 2022 6:08:06 PM] |

I agree with supdood. I don’t know why people here act like Krembil works for them. We’re all here voluntarily. We’re not paying for WUs.
Overall the attitudes are souring the experience more than the technical issues. |

[...] So Krembil can pull our leg continuously and when someone is seriously complaining about this, then this is considered "mean spirited"? [...] Ralf As it is difficult to convey tone on a message board, and to avoid getting into an argument when we both agree on the fundamental issue, I think we should agree that we will continue to disagree on some of the particulars. But I do want to clarify the points above. I did not mean to imply that you are being mean-spirited in your actions, rather that that is how it can seem when reading your (and others') posts. I am well aware of the timeline; the slippage of deadlines (when any are given at all); that there are both recurring issues and a seemingly endless supply of new, critical issues; and that this isn't how you should administer or govern a project/system. I'm just saying that these forums would likely be a nicer place if you didn't bring up Krembil's track record nearly every time you post about a current/new issue. |

At times it seems as some folks, both at Krembil and some of the volunteers, are living in an alternate universe... ![]() It's more a matter of a different mindset. |
