We need to post a poll -
How many PC's does an avg /.r have on this project.... I only have 8 on it now, but they are all 3+ ghz and 90% idle....fat pipe and plenty RAM / Raid storage... |

We need to post a poll - How many PC's does an avg /.r have on this project.... I only have 8 on it now, but they are all 3+ ghz and 90% idle....fat pipe and plenty RAM / Raid storage... I have a P4 2.2 crunching afterhours at work, a P4 1.8 crunching when I`m at home, and a P4 2.6 when my mother is on her Word machine :) Not too impressive, but I`ve been able to work myself up into the 2000+ realm nevertheless! I`m sure many of you got better or more machines on it? |

I'm still here. I check in about once a week or so.
I've got: 1 P4-3.0GHz 3 P4-2.3GHz 1 A64-3700 2 A64-3200 5 A32-3000 And I've got these coming soon (next week or so): 2 P4-2.3GHz 2 A32-3000 2 A64-3200 Only about half crunch around the clock, the other half only during the day, one only at night. Athlon64s seem to be beating the crap our of Pentium 4s in points per hour per clock. Can't imagine how I worked my way up to #40 on the team (as of this post).  |

Athlon64s seem to be beating the crap our of Pentium 4s in points per hour per clock. Absolutely. My wife got a new AMD64 3400+ for word processing. The floating point unit in AMD is much, much better than the Pentiums. It runs 5-8 Rosettas per DAY. I put in a real AGP graphics card over the weekend to replace the 128Mb shared graphics, so now it is crunching even faster.
