Athlon64s seem to be beating the crap our of Pentium 4s in points per hour per clock. Absolutely. My wife got a new AMD64 3400+ for word processing. The floating point unit in AMD is much, much better than the Pentiums. It runs 5-8 Rosettas per DAY. I put in a real AGP graphics card over the weekend to replace the 128Mb shared graphics, so now it is crunching even faster.I agree - have and AMD Anthlon 64 2200 sending 50% more than my overclocked P4 at 2,3G . Had to remove half the memory from the AMD and it stills sends one more unit than the P4 (stats after one day..... but I cannot see this changing as the P4 is stable) well done Slashdot Users - you are on the home page of the wcg today!!! I only just saw this feature today. Very encouraging for all TEAMs...... that have managed to get there. Well done! [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 17, 2005 6:00:04 PM] |

Calling all Slashdot supporters! Let's use our combined computing power to overwhelm and help find some cures! (and in the process, bug IBM to release a Linux version of the software!) I am sure that you recognize your mission quoted above . You have achieved the first goal - Let's use our combined computing power to overwhelm and help find some cures! How are you getting on wth the second? - bug IBM to release a Linux version of the software or are you secretly testing the new beta realease in the quiet ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

The *nix release is supposed to be ready for the next project: Calculate the answer to the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything. That`s disappointing. I even know the answer to that one myself! Excuse me, I think that`s a whale knocking on my door.. |
