Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Did I hear somebody mention word bank?

I actually found myself another very interesting bank, called Advanzia.
It is located on Luxemburg and it is "high tech" version from bank. They do not offer anything else that deposit account and free credit card.
Probably (I really do not know) they address is post box on some industrial zone.

This all of course sound very weird, but if some company receive status of bank on Luxemburg, then it is under ultrahigh regulation from authorities..
Trust me, I know what I'm doing...

About bank it self, well.
They have deposit account, interest is 6% for first month and after that 4.1% and interest paid monthly. So on this time when €uribors are getting close to zero, they offer is very luring...

Very interesting. I would be a little suspicious of a bank offering a high rate of interest when all others are less. Beware the Bernard Madoff effect.

Cheers

Hmm.

Well one week after I wrote that, Luxemburg government raise bank secure from 20k€ to 100k€ per bank.
If you bend for French, then here

Few years ago when I was concerning to open bank account to Saxo bank and was interested to know how much they will pay interest to my account.
They did make very clear that interest are not what I should be after, I would need to invest my money...

Ou well, last year stocks did produce -70%, but on another hand, time deposti has been yieldin somethink like 6-10% per year very easily.

Sometimes it is so nice to be ultraconservative.

I read just enough French to thoroughly confuse myself reading that. I know Luxembourg has quite the banking system and I have not heard of any problems with their liquidity so this may turn out to be a good place for a time deposit. You are right that stocks have had great negative return in the last year. The lesson should be do not put all of your eggs in one basket. Stay diversified. Some bank deposits, some bonds, some gov't bills, some real estate, some commodities. If you are not greedy you may get singed a little, but not burned too badly. If I good get a good solid 6 or 7 % I would be very happy. Too bad it is not happening here.

Cheers
