Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I wish I could put mine in a shed but down here in the south the tropical climate will destroy them (like my tools) unless there is some sort of climate control.

This weekend nature will be supplying its own form of climate control with a high on Sunday of 0 F. It has been down to -20 F in there and they just continue to run.
High temperatures coupled with high humidity would very probably wreak havoc with the components over time.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

First the good news. I finally made it to just over 100,000 results for MCM1. Now for the not so good news. I had to shut down a couple of machines because my electric bill was just getting too high. Once I can shut down some of the heat lamps as the weather warms, I will put them back on line. Maybe this will give me some incentive to invest in more efficient machines. Crunch on.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Congrats Joe. applause My westmere processors are not to bad on electricity. Would like to upgrade but the newer xeons prices are just nuts. Considered selling my dual xeon setup for the new 10 core i7 coming out but $1000 is a bit expensive. Hoping the 8 core will drop some.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Congratulations to the team. We have now surpassed the 8 million mark for results returned. If I get a chance I will post a little analysis.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Here is a little chart I came up with to show the percentages of points, results and time for each of the projects. Let me know if this is at all interesting. The chart date is February 13, 2016.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks Joe for the info. I shut mine down while on vacation in florida. Be home tomorrow and should be back on line then.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Well, you are coming back when the temperature is going to be in the 40's. March weather in February. Might even be a thunderstorm on Sunday.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hasn't been to bad since coming back. Not like florida but not bone freezing temps. Looks like 50's this weekend. Spring is on its way.
