Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Its the app_config file that did mine. Ended up deleting all my FightAIDS, shutting off "don't allow CPU" to get my GPU wu's again. Full now. Tried adding to the app_config to run FightAIDS but no go.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I had to turn off the crunching machines last night due to thunder snow. We haven't gotten as much snow as predicted, but we got several inches and it's blowing. No more thunder though, so the crunching is back in gear.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Not much -- we only got 5 or 6 inches here (Iowa City/Coralville). Some other parts of Iowa, including the Des Moines area, got over a foot. It hasn't been a big deal as far as quantity of snow, but there were high winds. It was the blowing snow that caused the 25-car pile-up on I-80 in Iowa this afternoon.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

At least you should have a white christmas. Sounds a little like our storm we had a week ago. News just stated madison got over 20 inches.
We are down to about 6 inches due to the rain we got recently. Hope to get more. Stay safe.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I got up this morning to find my ISP down sad This in turn caused on of my linux crunchers to have the status on boinc manager of "trying to connect." I have not discovered how to get it to re-connect other than restarting. It appears to have gone into this status for about 4 hours. During this time it appears the the actual crunching ceases, but I can't say for sure because I can not see what it is doing. So I restarted and everything returned to normal. I have this machine set to only connect between 00:01 and 11:00 (to relieve congestion on my connection)so it was trying to be active when the outage occurred. Since I am not that well versed on the ins and outs of linux, if anyone could add some insight on why this occurs and how I might prevent it I would be most appreciative. Other than this and the congestion problem ( which I believe is solved) this machine is pretty rock solid. The other linux crunchers had a couple of WU's error out but they did not hang the manager. TIA.
Cheers

Edit: The windows machines were totally unscathed - no problems.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Ou yeah, year first halo spotted here love struck

Sure I did try take picture out of it, but once again was having my pooring Saturday walking with my most poooring Android gadget.
But anyhow, on very middle of image there seems to be something like linear vertical rainbow, and there sure most certainly was one.

I think this was widest halo I have ever seem. On pic there is visible only very begin of it on little a bit over horizon, but sh*t it was also some very tall.
Darn it was so magnificent blushing

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I can not see the halo in your picture, but I do see a sun pillar. I have seen halos occasionally, but have never thought to take a picture of them.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

My router has given up the ghost tonight. I have a an old 802.11b router I have substituted but I am not going to align my range extender with it. I will have to bite the bullet and get an new one, probably an 802.11n in the morning. Rats !!
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I lost heating for half a day.
Some magnetic valve was broken or jammed or something on boiler room.
Inside temp dropped less than two degree during those twelve hours, so have to admit that new buildings are awesome on many ways.

Some funny video biggrin
