Re: Minnesota Crunchers

A number of years ago I worked with some proprietary European made video servers. For the most part, they were problem free once set up, but there two major problems. The customer service was almost non-existent when a problem did occur and most of them had hardware failures within 6 months of the warranty expiring. Whoever their product life span engineer was surely knew his/her business. When it came time to replace them we opted for a more open solution. The less babysitting with servers you need to do, the better.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

My heart goes out to the victims of the recent horrible mass shootings in Oregon and Connecticut.

We really need to get a handle on these type of events...

Hmm, only European system which I have experienced is Tandberg, and with my experience it is solid as rock.
I have never face any challenges with it, so I guess it was not your system?
Maybe you did purcase some Bulgarian Zetor or Italian dönner kepap spesial confused

Apropoo,
on those my old days I did build live TV links from another side of planet to this side.
Was working on company where CEO did keep speech every quartal on HQ and it was distributed to every local HQ on another countries, my role was make sure that that grand auditorium change to movie theater.
It sure was one one of those moments that I really miss on my life, we did have own very large control area on top of auditorium with shaded classes and only three people did have key to it.
It was our magical kingdom where every second felt like one hour and it was pure euphoria because everything did always work so very well.
it was really like being on some movie that describe work on some TV station control room on prime time when live cast is ongoing.
First time it was pure horror, but third time pure pleasure, something to enjoy with every breath.

Poi those where the days.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Your link leads to a site which is all in Suomi. However, Google translate does a pretty good job of translating, although sometimes even though I know what is meant, the Google translation is a bit humorous.

I am not sure I would want to buy unnecessary stuff smile I think it would read better if it said "Take a closer look and you can get some good ideas to sell unnecessary stuff from your home or buy necessary stuff for your home." Still, for machine translation, it is pretty good.

It reminds me of the machine translation I saw a number of years ago. It was a from Russian to English. Concerning side airbags the translation came out as "lateral pillows to blowup."

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Anyone try the app_config.xml yet? Just switched one of my rigs to try out. Its nice to crunch both GPU and CPU instead of leaving cores sit idle.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Just had a download of WU for one of my exclusive HCC machines. I got 15 jobs but no HCC, not 1. Must be having a small drought.
