I survived the lay-offs today where I work. 45 is a lot of people. What a nice way to end their year...not!! Sorry to hear about the layoffs and glad you were not one of them. And right before Christmas too. Sounds like a beancounter thing to tidy up the quarter numbers so the analyst report looks better. I hope all the laid off personnel find better jobs and soon. Cheers

Most we're 20+ year employees.
I guess all that vacation time they had was costing too much. |

I'm very sorry to hear that sort of news. Here's hoping they all find new jobs soon.

From watching the news, looks like more companies are laying off folks. My guess is the fiscal cliff has a little to do with it. We all may be in for a bumpy ride if this happens.

One good note, they all got 1 week severance for every year employed. |

I survived the lay-offs today where I work. 45 is a lot of people. What a nice way to end their year...not!! I have dodge three of those on this year. Luckily has some wide education on that matter that I can handle many foreign cultures, I know how to handle FDA-dudes it they are behind my door Best instruction I can give is just try forget it as philosophical item. This is nothing new under sun and never will stop, so you do not do any harm if honestly just try forget it as phenomenological aspect. On ancient Greek they did try few thousand years ago system called democracy. You get right to vote if you were male and on owning class. This last rule was because employes were need to vote best of their employer, so they where not really free to vote any possibility what ever. They did need to vote legislation that was favorite for their winery or shipyard etc. This has continue thousands of years before our time and will do so until sun become supernova. I also recommend some mild sedative, like bank account on Luxembourg . Works better that ether on me ![]() Apropoo, Greece has done bankruptcy on years 1826, 1829, 1843, 1860, 1893, 1932. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9I5iugfTiIk ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by ultimaThule at Dec 13, 2012 12:12:50 AM] |

Get a load what this beast could do if put to work on WCG HCC rather than cracking passwords. http://arstechnica.com/security/2012/12/25-gp...dows-password-in-6-hours/ Cheers The technique doesn't apply to online attacks, because, among other reasons, most websites limit the number of guesses that can be made for a given account. On old days when I work with servers, those did get locked every now and then when somebody was able to get through firewall and try get admin PW with brute force. After three attempt, it was permanently locked. We did use ERD Commander's Locksmith to unlock PW, took something like minute to do. On some environments like banks, only way aloud to logon was console. So did need to travel physically to computer hall to use keyboard attached to server. This was quite frustrating some times because even when main server hall was highly redundant, there was always another identical copy (DR-site) of it somewhere over the rainbow in case of earthquake or nuclear war or something. So literally did need to spend a lot time on train every now and then. Luckily they did have dining car. When work was done and was heading home, did have plenty of time to get well loaded ![]() ![]() |
