I have let the 2950 run for a little while now. Boy is that thing inconsistent. I have tried a couple of projects on it with some success. HCC ran the first two jobs in 6 hours which I thought was awfully slow, but then it settled down and ran most of the rest between 1 and 2 hours, a few in less than an hour. Why ? I don't know. I have tried some CEP2 on it and they have run pretty well except for a power blip which caused errors. However, it grants anywhere between 80 and 280 points for a job. On my other systems on which I run this project it shows great consistency because the jobs generally run a consistent time. I don't really care about the points but am mighty curious about the wide disparity. It must drive my wingmen crazy. If it does not become consistent I will probably try to upgrade the OS from Linux Mint 12 to 13 and see if that provides more stability. I haven't ever had a system that varies this much. Eventually I will upgrade the processors to quads, but that is another story. Cheers Are you running max number cores available? Sounds like its choking somewhere. Try running 50% cores to see if it stabilizes.

Not 100% sure but you may need special hard drives in that server too instead of plain sata II, or are you using IDE?

Mine is $24.99/month Cheers http://www.speedtest.net/iphone/357703708.png 40 bucks with cable and phone bundle. You got a better deal than me. Mine is stand alone, no other services from comcast. Does the $40 include the phone, or is that extra, becasue I paid $149 for two years of an IP Phone. My total bill for November is $162.76 That's for everything, phone, internet, wireless router, DVR, all the HD channels, and the sports package. No premium movie channels. |

I worked on tweaking the gpu's again today. They are running smoothly for the time being with multiple wu now (crosses fingers). Should help to boost output and efficiency.

Just installed my 7870 today. Dropped from 3:30 on the 6950 to around 2:00 on the 7870. Seems slow though. Will be trying to get 2 to run on it tomorrow. Posted some issues in the GPU thread if you get time to check out.

Posted some issues in the GPU thread if you get time to check out. The gpu time per wu should be around 0:45 on a 7870, based on interpolation of other 7000 series cards. How long is your CPU taking for its part? I suspect CPU speed has a lot to do with the 2:00 time. Try running two or even four wu at a time, that should increase efficiency. ![]() |

Both of my crunchers are 12 core/24 thread. Have reduced both to 75 % (18 threads). Might have to reduce more. Have read in another thread folks shutting off hyperthreading. Might try that too.
----------------------------------------Have reduced to 6 threads and don't see much difference so back to 18. Nanoprobe suggested to remove CCC so might give that a shot.
