Some good news and bad news about AMD: They just launched their "Piledriver" desktop cpu's. But analysts still see AMD as a lost cause. Will do my best to support their products if the performance is decent. http://www.newstodaydigest.com/advanced-micro...8-core-processors/128274/ http://www.xbitlabs.com/news/cpu/display/2012...e_Start_to_Lose_Hope.html Nice work, Mitch. Bearcat, let us know how the 7870 does and if you can run multiples... There new chip isn't to bad for the price. Give it a month or so and should drop in price. Since my next build will be for GPU crunching only, this might fit the bill along with 2 GPU's. Will do a couple days crunching one at a time to beak the 7870 in before trying more. From what I have read, should do just fine. Will let you know what it does by the weekend.

Mine is $24.99/month Cheers http://www.speedtest.net/iphone/357703708.png 40 bucks with cable and phone bundle. You got a better deal than me. Mine is stand alone, no other services from comcast. Does the $40 include the phone, or is that extra, becasue I paid $149 for two years of an IP Phone. ![]() ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by mclaver at Oct 24, 2012 12:42:21 PM] |

I have let the 2950 run for a little while now. Boy is that thing inconsistent. I have tried a couple of projects on it with some success. HCC ran the first two jobs in 6 hours which I thought was awfully slow, but then it settled down and ran most of the rest between 1 and 2 hours, a few in less than an hour. Why ? I don't know. I have tried some CEP2 on it and they have run pretty well except for a power blip which caused errors. However, it grants anywhere between 80 and 280 points for a job. On my other systems on which I run this project it shows great consistency because the jobs generally run a consistent time. I don't really care about the points but am mighty curious about the wide disparity. It must drive my wingmen crazy. If it does not become consistent I will probably try to upgrade the OS from Linux Mint 12 to 13 and see if that provides more stability. I haven't ever had a system that varies this much. Eventually I will upgrade the processors to quads, but that is another story.
