Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I got 2 on one quad and 1 on the other. Nothing on the Linux machines. Of course, I did not look for them exclusively.

300 Brink - Holy smokes !!!

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Brink, what's the spec's of your slow machine that received 300 of them? Must be testing on slow machines to get a base line or something.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Some odd weather still here...

Air temperature is variating more than 10 degrees per day...
This is something cannot remember happened before here on coast line... Air temperature is usyally equal to sea and you can say Friday reading on Monday... Changes are very slow..

This kind of variation was something that I was use to when live on inner land, but really cannot remember anything like this here next to sea...
Almost like giant cold air fauset would be opened every night...

Just wondering what will happen when sea get frozen. Let is snow let it snow let it snow... devilish

Some of us are anxiously awaiting that cold air faucet. Currently at 07:50 AM it is 71F (21.6C) with dewpoint 68F (20C). Muggy, muggy, muggy.

Bearcat,

One way to get those betas is to drop your cache setting(additional work buffer) to .10 days and the"connect about every" to .01 days which would have your machine query the server about every 860 seconds - 15 minutes or so. I am sure this is more stress on the WCG servers, but if there are betas available and you notice it, you can then raise your additional work buffer to collect more, perhaps a couple of days worth of betas. I would guess there are other schemes available but this is one which does work if you catch the beta rain in time.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thanks joe. I run at .3 and .7 for cache. Guess its hit or miss. Oh well, I'll get them when ever I can.

First gen HT Pentiums and core 2 duo's. I think your right about them testing old hardware.
I also set my cache to 5 days and and clicked update every couple minutes until I would not get anymore. I use boinctasks to update all pc's with one click.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Just adjusted my hex rig to .3 to connect and .4 for cache. Maybe if i am lucky I will snag a few. Otherwise I might see a gold badge in 10 years for beta.

And we are glad to have you back. I saw you had started to put some numbers back up when looking at BoincStats. I wondered why this return, but now I see. Brink can be persuasive when he he puts his mind to it. Are you going to drag any of the others back too ?

Cheers
