Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Impressive charts...

Omigosh, you guys are awesome!!

I hope it's ok that I joined your team on PrimeGrid a couple weeks ago when Brinktastee invited folks who were running GPU projects to join. Neither of the Iowa-based teams that I'm on in my other projects has any members on PrimeGrid. And I learn so much from reading your team thread here on WCG that I wanted to join you in something!

Kate (the transplanted Duluthian)

P.S. I don't even have to be homesick for Duluth today -- we have -25 degree windchills right here in Iowa! tongue

Glad to have you aboard.

According to the weather undergroung stats it was -29 F (-34C) about 5:30 AM this morning. It looks like Int'l Falls got the cold spot at -46 F (-43C) today. Finally cold enough to kill off last Fall's mosquitos laughing Should be back above 0 on Sunday.

Cheers

Thanks!

That is just plain scary cold!

Didn't Minn get a blast like that sometime around 1996 or 1997? My husband and I were living in Boston those two years, and I seem to remember that the Midwest got a terrible cold spell that we missed altogether.

We lived in St Paul from 1985-1994, so we did get in on that amazing Halloween snowstorm -- as well as the Twins two World Series wins. biggrin

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Looks like we will thaw out a little starting early next week. Upper 20's. Heat wave. Would rather have more snow than bitter cold. Wouldn't bother me if spring came early. Just hope the violent storms don't crop up.
So how's the new computer doing?

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Had to shut down crunching with the GPU. 2 crashes yesterday. Points to my ATI graphics card. Was doing pretty good for awhile so not sure what's the issue is.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

What size is your psu? Mine is a 850 so I know that's not an issue. Forgot about turning it down is CCC. Will have to give it a shot and see what happens. The flu stinks big time. Been lucky so far but haven't been doing much since my back went out. Hopefully I find out soon what will be done. I hate waiting on doctors. Hope you get rid of it soon.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It's a 350 Watt. It's too small and needs to be upgraded if it's the problem or not.

Is it stable running FurMark's torture test? What temps are you seeing on the card?

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Dropped it down a few notches. So far so good. Haven't run any tests. Temps are now 71C. Was controlling the fan before but this time I will let the software handle it. Been running since this morning crunching away.

If 71C is under full load, that is plenty good! My 4850 hits 80C and my 4870 hits 85C and they work fine at those temps.
