Some news on a couple of fronts:
----------------------------------------Dave Bell has his new toy (laptop) and is getting it set up. He hopes to have it crunching and be online here in the next few days! He's doing well. It's like lot like boot camp for him except the physical therapists are like drill instructors that are nice to you I'm grabbing a bit of vacation next week as we make our annual trip to my wife's opthamologic? oncologist in Philly so we're driving up and playing tourist along the way. It's a routine checkup from her (thankfully) false alarm a few years back. Net is I'll be able to provide the daily movers for a couple more days (maybe Saturday) and that's it until mid-month at best. Thanks to everyone for hanging in there and crunching away (even quietly ). Hopefully, Graham will have his machines back online soon and Spikey will eventually cross the pond again (Go ahead and take the plunge man! Bring her back with you ) Let's especially continue to remember Gerald in our thoughts and prayers as he walks his difficult road.Don't ever complain about life being boring. It'll find a way to make you long for those days......... |

Hi all -- well, I am somewhat back online. I bought a laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505, 2 Mb Memory, 120 Gb HD, Intel Core2 T5600 @ 1.83 MHz ...) and I say somewhat online for a couple of reasons: (a) I am connecting via dial, and (b) my neuropathy is now messing up my hands, so typing is somewhat difficult.
----------------------------------------I am still in the hospital. The surgery (amputation of my right leg below the knee) on Aug 3 went well and I didn't experience that much pain. I was healing quite well until I had a fall on Aug 31 and came down on my stump liike a pile driver. I developed an infection where it split open and am still being treated for that. I think it is looking pretty good (though I am no doctor), but until it heals, it puts getting fitted for a prosthetic on hold. Since I've been away from the forums for so long, I plan to ease myself back slowly so that I can find out what the issues are now. I can't tell you how sweet it is to see a World Community Grid page in front of me again! Great to be back online even if it is at 36K or whatever my modem synched up at this time. -- Dave [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 5, 2006 11:59:36 PM] |

As some of you know I joined the grid and My Online Team because all of you were very helpful and compassionate. Many of you have prayed for my wife and me and i am very grateful for that. Well after two and one half very agonizing years my wife has lost her battle with Breast Cancer at 5 PM on Sept 30. I was very fortunate enough to keep her home with me and I was loving and holding her hand when she passed into a better world. I just want to tell everyone around the world--Thank You for being there when i asked for help.God bless Mary and you all--Gerald R Marquardt--marysduby Gerald, I read your post with great sadness and offer my sincere condolences and sympathy for your great loss of your dear wife Mary. I hope and pray that we may be of some comfort to you in your time of need regardless of team and together we can help bring an end to this terrible disease. ![]() |
